View Full Version : Crashing on official server, but not on experimental?

Man I have been crashing on official server like no bodies business! I log on and within 2 minutes I crash. (And yes I have sound disabled.) This has been going on now for a week.

However, I tried the experimental server today and played for 30 minutes without any problems. Strange isn't it?

Anyways, I am running on a p4 2.4 ghz, 1 gig ram, and an FX 5200 256 meg video card . MY OS is Debian Etch 4.0 with kernel build 2.6.18-4-686 (stock Etch kernel). I also am using the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11 drivers.

I tried the replacing live folder contents with what was in testing and that didn't seem to help.

Any way to work around this problem?

try playing the game in "safe mode".
if it doesn't work, delete the "live" directory and run the game again (it will download the game again).

Well, MAXDDARK, neither solution that you offered worked. I am still disconnecting from Official server in two minutes or less.

However, on experimental server I seem to be fine.

Strange, very strange.

Well even the home page for Regnum states that there are 6 people on the experiential server (at this very moment), yet it forsakes me and decides that it "cannot establish connection to the sever."

Now I have lost my ability to enjoy either server.

Let it be known that I am the first to be exiled from the game.

Hi Lostsoul,

The experimental server is currently *broken*. We intend to fix it tomorrow monday.

It is possible that a bug causing you to crash with the official client is fixed in the experimental version. You should wait for the experimental server to be fixed, and then for the next update.

Sorry for the trouble...

Ok - Here is what I did - I deleted the live server folder, the testing and even the binary of the game. Re-downloaded the game binary and also the files from the live server.

Upon downloading the game files off of the live server I had a crash (about 444 files out of 1,430 or so files that were to be downloaded before one ever gets to the character screen). This crash stated that I had a SIGSEGV (segmentation fault).

And this crash pointed me to a crash_backtrace log, which read like this:
libs/libcore_client.so(_ZN10ClientBase14save_backtraceE v+0x7e) [0xb7dad48e]
libs/libcore_client.so(_ZN10ClientBase12client_crashEi+ 0x17) [0xb7dad847]
[0xb7f8d420]
/usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1 [0xb653d8b8]

After I red this log I decided to once again log onto the game. This time I was able to get to the character screen and was there for about five minutes. However, I logged on my main character and within in a minute the client crashed.

I poked around a little in the live folder and noticed an error log and this error log read:
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadCursor (invalid Cursor parameter)
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadCursor (invalid Cursor parameter)
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadCursor (invalid Cursor parameter)
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)

Again I logged on and logged in my main and within a minute I crashed again. The error log read:
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadCursor (invalid Cursor parameter)
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)

Yet after all this I still logged on again and as before I crashed (within less or close to a minute) and the error log read:
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadCursor (invalid Cursor parameter)

Finally, the fourth time, I log - with my main - and again within a minute I crash and guess what the error log read:
[RenderizerGL][renderizer_gl_x11.cpp(266)] BadCursor (invalid Cursor parameter)

Well I hope this helps someone that can help me

Till then - I guess I am exiled.

Well I finally figured out what was wrong, and it was a program called lokkit that configures basic iptables/ipchain firewall settings.

But its strange that I can play on experimental with iptables set this way, though mobs never move, but on normal server I crash within 2 minutes.

At least its a testament to the power of iptables ;)

Blah.

for this matter I wonder which ports regnum use on both servers ?
