I could never understand why so much males play on female characters. I've tried it myself and end up deleting them after a few levels and making a male of the same class.
Also its a bit creepy. The general rule of an mmorpg is to assume its a guy until they send you pictures of boobs.

In fact, it’s all about the butts. Because players see their avatars from a third-person perspective from behind, men are confronted with whether they want to stare at a guy’s butt or a girl’s butt for 20 hours a week.
I believe this whole world is ruled by the butts. And by the always magnificent boobs. Long live the boobutts. :tonguey:

It really depends on the class and race I'll be playing.
A light class, such as mage, I prefer female character. A heavy class such as a knight or barbarian, I'd prefer male. Archers are really either way.
Females usually have nicer hair as well. I'm a sucker for those aesthetics.
Also the race; Male Wood Elves are fugly.
Some might go for the skimpy armour as well :p
In other MMOs such as Guild Wars 2, it's very easy to role-play your character. At character creation you choose options to create a background story. For example I have a human Thief - similiar to Regnum Hunter, it revolves around stealth and quick bursts of attacks.
She lived in poverty in all her life as an orphan in the great Human city. Then you choose an attribute which affects the way your character talks- Ferocity, Charisma or Dignity. And with that backstory, I chose Charisma and I saw that a female character fit more than a male character.
Opposite of that, I have a Guardian(RO equivalent of a Knight). He is from a giant race with their lore based on being legends - They venture forth, their only fear is to be forgotten throughout the ages. Hence with that class and back story, I saw that a male fit more than a female character.

It is a game and you play a role in it with a fantasy character. If you play a dwarf you don't expect that the player moving this dwarf is really a dwarf or an elve, orc or whatever. So why should the gender of this fantasy character be the players one?
I don't care who plays the chars and I don't understand why this is important for some players. Players looking for girls in Regnum should better join some dating portal xD

i always make female characters, simply because the models are prettier than the male ones, looks matter i dont look at it as a gender preference, just what is more appealing to me :3 eyecandy

Diversity is nice to have between different characters.
Some classes and races are just nicer to play as.
For example I like dwarf female knight, nordo hunter (male is nicer for me here, but I do have female now for a change) etc. Female lamais also have a nice advantage of being the smallest, and hardest to select toons, so i have a lamai female knight :D

Do girls make male chars as often?
yes my barb is a male,so is my knight, ive got friends who have made male toons too.i think this whole issue has more to do with trying to impress a woman only to find out she is really a guy.guys, remember this is a game not a dating site and you wont be so disappointed :p

For me, it's the character animation. I don't know, it just seems more thought went into the female mages. Everything looks more natural. And dat ass.

I choose female avatars to get free gear :)(^He ain't lying!) My 1st RO toon almost 5 years back was a female icon. No one even bothered to ask if I was a male or female for several months .... they all just assumed I guess. Guys were friendlier & a certain gal was all jelly & vindictive. I truly had no ulterior motive for doing so, but yes, 'being female' definitely got me more positive attention, help, advice & respectful treatment ... oh & more "free gear" too. :naughty:
