I had the same problem during last days.

For example yesterday I logged in (which took a long time) then I went to Herbred, and all the walls and the doors were missing. But I could see the enemies from Alsius in the Fort.

Try selecting (after you login)... "Download All Resources At Once".
After you get in the game, it will download for a long time, but after that is done, you will have it all downloaded, and hopefully not have to worry about it anymore. Just the first time you bring the game up may take a really long time to download it all.

I'll do that with my new computer, no way I'm going to lag while downloading enemy armor and get killed.

What does post processing do?

You can also look up what the AA = antialiasing and the AF = anisotropic filtering does for image quality as well. If your card can handle it they can improve the image quality quite a bit, but at the cost of lower frame rate, so a graphics card with more oomph is desired.
