My view on the ethics of em i vented often enough, there seems to be some development in [1] awareness with the increasingly common free to play (f2p) + micro transactions income strategy in games.
Interesting topic. Controversial, especially when minors are affected.

There is definitely growing dissent about this model of gaming, as more and more articles are being written about it lately.
It's is far more prevalent in other games than this one.
I know gaming companies have to make money, but this method reduces a game I think.
Regnum was better when everyone fought with store bought equipment and everyone was on an even playing field.

Imo the cases with gambling and lootboxes are a toxic to the game, it just renders the hardwork of players useless, back in the old days, it was the hard grind and that spirit of ''i hope i can defeat this boss and get the right materials'' has turned into ''it dosent matter if i dont get this drop, il get it with dad's credit card''. That itself is really sad.
One way companies found to fund themselves in the same time as to not bring ruin to the game is with of course, looting items that do not give any stats and instead only irrelevant items such as skins like in csgo.

I hear ya', I really do. What's the alternative tho? All I've seen so far is ssdd, for decades now ... either you pay to play (subscriptions), or the gaming company models it's revenue flow exclusively on 'cosmetic' add-ons (& all too often, this is a rather small trickle of a stream, so...).
/me scratches head, shrugs, wanders off....:(
