Mobs ganging up on me

Why do mobs gang up on me when I'm fighting? I start fighting something, and then 5 other mobs run up and kill me in 10 seconds! Is this supposed to happen when I'm on a rune quest or something? This just started about three days ago.

did you use an aggressive area spell?

Sounds like you're using AoE spells, you have to be careful where you use those, they will piss off everything within the area of effect. Spells like Ignis flame are AoE spells for marks.

Its Ignus Scorch ;)

but you are right, this spell has a HUGE area aggro effect.
other spells that cause this are: blaze, MoD, crystal blast, mind push, and so on

I do use Ingus scorch but not every time I fight a mob.
Edit: oops, you were right thanks all. I hadn't realized that was an area spell

ouch nalern, reminds me of when I use fireball at the wrong time, keyword=RUN
