The new ATI drivers came out today. I installed and immediatly booted up Regnum. This new driver means support for the Big Guns, the HD 2400, however! Even though unsupported by ATI for anything older (8.40 is still the supported version for all other cards), This made my Xpress 200 M boom!

While there is still much improvement to make, 8.42 next month will be supporting older cards (rv300 and forward) the new Driver base made a massive difference. I went from only being able to play Regnum in Safe Mode, Windowed. To Running 1280x800, Full Screen, Medium quality, And everything except post processing effects turned on! Regnum looks better than ever on ATI under Linux!

I use Kubuntu 7.04, here are prebuilt packages that I created for Kubuntu, Ubuntu, Xubuntu.

Will this new driver support my ATI 9800 Pro videocard or is it meant for newer videocards ?

8.41 offically supports the HD series. It may work with other cards, too but not with mine ;) (radeon x550xt).
The next release should support older cards too, AFAIK.

The 9800 is a RV350, so yes your card is supported under these new drivers. Although this driver is beta, the 8.42 should be finalized and stable, but give the 8.41 a shot!
