I have the same problem! It started with the 169.04 beta-driver, and the problem still exists on the 169.07 driver.
What files are needed for troubleshooting?
Is this a Regnum-related problem, or a driver-related problem? (That is: should I file a bug here, or at some NVIDIA-site?).

The newest Driver did not work for me too. It froze the X server regularly. I went back to 100.14.19, although the changelog sounds nice :/
But I did not have those graphic bugs with the new Nvdia driver.

Really if you don't like having problems, keep a stable driver... i almost never crash, nor get graphical bugs etc. Even older than Myxir's one xD

Same graphic bugs for me with 169.04 and 169.07.
Geforce 7950gt runs fine with 100.14.23.
Geforce 7200go (shared memory) in a turion x2 notebook stable with new legacy 96.43.01.
OS on both sytems ubuntu 7.10 32bit version.

I agree

Yes, of course I could go back to one of the working drivers, but there's still a problem with the newest driver. And for those who have no alternatives (like those with a GeForce 8800GT, which isn't supported by any driver older than the 169.04 beta-driver) there's a problem that has to be solved.
BTW, the 169.07 is supposed to be a stable driver, at least in the sense of release status.

Try playing openarena or supertuxkart (or even ppracer :sifflote: ) and check if you have such texture problems, then you'll know if it's really the driver or not.

The problem exists only in Regnum. Well, rather: the problems doesn't exist in any other game I have played..

That's really driver problem. Got similar problems with postal2 on linux
Hope nVidia would fix bugs in the next release

i have no idea what driver version that should be?!
looking at the packages in portage i cant find any similar.
http://packages.gentoo.org/package/x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers
i ust x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-100.14.19 which is the latest stable and works perfectly fine

it is unstable (in gentoo anyway) and is in bugs.gentoo.org search for nvidia-drivers. It is the latest stable driver on the nvidia website.

Yes, the last time I tried installing nvidia drivers from the nvidia site and not through the package manager i ended up reinstalling my linux.
I too am getting the same problem with the new nvidia drivers. Anyone knows how to solve this?

m not sure if this is due to nvidia drivers, but have a problem
(nvidia + gentoo linux)
game sometimes crahes
can't say if this is after some time of playing
or is becouse of some action
or becouse some location
just simply crahes sometimes
downgraded drivers to the stable one - no more FBO: incomplete dimensions but crashes haven't dissapeared
all i have is crash_backtrace (no errors in the log)
do i have 2 post the backtrace here?
and how to solve this problem, cos playing becomes a nightmare

I think it's time to file a bug-report to NVIDIA. I have also heard that people playing UT2k4 have some (similar) problems with the latest drivers (169.*).
BTW, the problem exists in version 169.09 too.
CyberTribe: I had the same problem, and this was my solution: In the launcher, go to OPTIONS and then Advanced options... and turn off Terrain detail totally.

so as of now, does anyone know how to fix this without finding old drivers that may not even be available anymore?
DeepThought

Of course they are available:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_archive.html
But they don't work with the 8800GT, thou, and I don't know any other fix or workaround.

Have you tried to disable Terrain Detail? It's in the advanced-part of OPTIONS (in the launcher).

Yeah, disabling Terrain Detail works great for me.
I've been running like that for around 2 monthis now, and no single crash.
Seems to be something wrong with the grass in the OpenGL renderer.

Well, I am new to this game, so new that I just install the game last night, but seems due to this video driver issue, I can't even create a new character.
Seems that I can only wait till this is fix to play the game.

I posted about the major 169.XX Nvidia bug that effects Regnum Online about a month ago on nvnews. You can see that thread here:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=109000
I posted a link to a screenshot of Regnum in the first post. I am hoping Nvidia will fix this problem soon.
Right now I am not even that worried about the Nvidia problem. Since the recent Regnum update I can't even get into the game. The launcher comes up, I log in, I enter game, and I am greeted with a black screen. The splash and intro do not show. It will just sit on the black screen with the regnum mouse pointer displayed and movable.

You could try to wait some.
Also, at server downtime this error can occur.
Try once more and make a new thread in this forum if it still ain't working.

It turns out that my latest problem is actually a sound issue as disabling sound has allowed the game to start. So, this is not a graphics issue at all. I look forward to Nvidia resolving the major graphics issue discussed in this thread.

Finally! I believe this problem is solved in the latest NVIDIA-driver 173.08 (which is a BETA).
At least that driver solved all of my problems (just brief testing, nothing extensive yet).
From the changelog:
Fixed OpenGL rendering corruption with textures compressed using the DXT5 compression algorithm.

Yes, the DXT5 compression issue and the Regnum issue are one and the same. The newest beta driver fixes this issue.

I installed the 173.08 on HH 8.04 LTS without a problem following the instructions on the Nvidia page.
And no more white striped textures.
