After the latest patch like 2 - 3 days ago i noticed my fps went from 35 - 45 fps to 25 - 35 fps and my fps isnt steady it will drop to really low for 2 seconds and then go back up btw my settings are on max
i made sure i wasnt running any background processes that can affect it, i was thinking it was something to do with the patch and performance of the code
any ideas...

This is happening to me too. fps will go down to 1 for about a second then go back up to 35.

The developers will have to find out what they changed in the last patch that affected the performance and how would we bring it to the attention of the developers? should i email as a bug

Hello everyone,

We are in the process of finding out what exactly is causing this. We have some leads but nothing concrete yet.
Could you try something for us? Please deactivate "Terrain multitexturing" on the in-game menu options and go around in a straight line for a while to see if it hangs that much.

Regards

I set video settings lower and it seems fixed.

continues to have frame issues

my computer can handle the game with max settings with 30 - 40fps but it still drops to 2fps for about 3 seconds when its loading mountains or other stuff. I even tried putting the settings on low and my fps was about 70 but it still was hanging when it was loading something

Nvidia Geforce 7300GT 256mb

Running lowest possible settings and on safe mode.

niclam,

i never had this problem on my personnal computer which runs the game with every setting to max (thus terrain multitexturing) except for view distance and AA+AF set to 1x (Vista/D3D). on this one i just lose my sound and crash sometimes :)

but yesterday i was playing on a different computer IN SAFE MODE (XP/D3D) and i experienced exactly what the people around here described. game running fine but for like 10s i had the lowest fps ever, in the middle of nowhere with just 2 players around me, then it came back to normal.

i didn't try opengl it was looking very bad in safe mode.

Haha, I didn't notice when I posted. Seems these issues go in circles. Cause this thread is still relevant.

the current problem is exactly the same as described, i got fooled too. there was a similar problem in beta too but you had to log out before being able to play again. this bug was solved long ago, why the hell is it back now ?!
