I hate fantasy books. But at least I know and read them, I know what to hate for. Forgotten Realms, Sapkowski, King, I don't even get into them. I don't "feel" them. They're too shallow for me.
(btw Harry Potter is the worst $*** I've ever read xD)
I prefer historical books about real life. But that doesn't mean I can't play fantasy games or draw comics. I enjoyed playing Eve and Auto Assault, but Regnum has something more than fantasy looks - it has the community
we could make a discussion someday, you know. Fantasy fans vs Reality fans or something lol
but none the less my favourite fantasy creature is a werewolf - it looks cool

Dandellion Wine of Ray Bradbury... makes me cry even remember some parts of the book.
But couldn't name a favourite... I like a lot of them and don't want to state a favourite... I don't want them to get jealous (?)

I'll name 3, it's just too hard to pick one!
José Saramago's "Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira" (the literal translation would be "Essay on Blindness" although its English edition's name is "Blindness")
Jorge Luis Borges's "Ficciones" ("Fictions" in English)
Alexandro Jododrowsky and Moebius (Jean Giraud)'s "L'Incal" (it's one of those things that you read during your childhood and makes you be a "nerd" for the rest of your life :guitar: )
Ah, and...
Milo Manara's "Click" series (no comments, I wonder if anyone knows this piece of art :sifflote: )

The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester

Did you read the Silmarillion? The first two stories are easy to read, but the main one is simply impossible to read if you're not patient enough to go to the map, look up the places, go to the glossary, look up the names, go back to the story... Anyway, I liked it xD

the Night's Dawn trilogy (the reality dysfunction, the neutronium alchemist, the naked god) by Peter F. Hamilton
I recently read this trilogy. While I enjoyed the rich and detailed universe described by Hamilton, I absolutely hated the ending. Also, there is something in his style of writing that I cannot really connect to. I've read Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained before that and think they are somewhat although the same criticism still applies.
But now to some books that I like. As you may have guessed, I'm into science fiction, at least for some time now. I do not have a single favorite book, so I will name a few authors I like.
I really enjoyed Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy although it has some lenghts. But it also has very well described characters and a whole bunch of interesting ideas in a realistic setting.
Iain M. Banks is one of the authors I love for their style of writing.
Alastair Reynolds, what I've read so far. Richard Morgan.
Oh well, these are all more modern writers. I guess I still have to read some of the classics.

If any bit of scenery or description I didnt understand came up, I just skipped a few pages, until there was a conversation going on.
So in my mind Mordor is right next to the Shire.... ;)

Smart, but that way you would read a Tolkien's book in just an hour or so... Skipping all the descriptions and scenery would kill all the magic (though it would make the book a lot more interesting).
It took me more than three months to finish it, reading it in every spare moment at school (yeah, I couldn't find anything more entertaining than reading a book, until I bought a palm).

Yep, I think I passed, but I won't have the mark until March... (That's usually when the classes begin here for high school students).
The exam were 200 questions, 100 of them were spoken and 100 were about grammar and stuff. You can't pause on the exam, and you have 2 and a half hours.

English Humor is kind of difficult to get at first, but then it becomes kind of addictive. Monty Python is a good example of that (some of the sketches were written by Adams AFAIK).
