Regnum run slow

I have Celeron 1.7 GHz with 256 RAM and nVidia Geforce4 MX440(4x,64 mb). Is this not enough to play normally? In some moments it seems FPS is less than 1, especially when i'm in town. My distro is Slackware 12.0. I have direct rendering and last drivers from nvidia.com.

the gf4mx is actually a low-end budget card, it is equivalent to a geforce2 in performance, however it sounds to me like you just have your settings too high, playing 800x600x16 with all the settings sliders at the lowest, and compare, it should flow quite nice (the only place you should experience problems is in large fort wars)
