Yeah Yngwie Malmsteen is a guitar god, but because of this technique they say he now has arthritis.
Yet other people I put up as guitar gods: Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmore, Eric Clapton and of course the new kid on the block Miyavi (uses no pick and likes to hit his guitar for added sounds).

First, Malmsteen is not retarded. He had a a very unique way to play the guitar.
And second, yeah he is old (as well as most of the others that I named), but hardly has anyone been able to out do him.
Yet guitar solos and awe inspiring personal techniques are not as fashionable any more. What seems to be fashionable today is ripping off others (sampling) and beats (which is sampled as well).
This is a guitar god....

Sorry, not really a guitar but big man with a ukulele - can't beat it...

Oh fuck yeah man that guy rocks man. His voice is so rocking dude.
To bad he died though ;(.
Quite too bad. Every time my family and I go to Hawaii I request his songs from live bands and they are ALWAYS happy to play them...
White Sandy Beaches of Hawaii is another good 1.

Yeah White Sandy Beaches is cool, I like the video because I get to see his hand move over the fretboard of the ukulele.
I'll never forget hearing his over the rainbow song. I was at a friends house getting messed up after a chick and I broke up.
And my friend he looked the guy up on the 'net and I was blown away that a voice like his came out of such a big dude.
But since then I seen pictures of him, and tell you the truth, he got a really good looking face.
He was a talented singer and a killer ukulele-ist.

Yes, malmsteen is a friggin retard :p
And by 'welcome to 10 years ago' i meant 'NOW you found out about malmsteen?' and not 'malmsteen is too old-school now'.
<flamebait>
Ya'd think someone who tries to sound like a native english speaker could at least figure that out ;)

But, I've gotten into too many debates over "ze best zomg!@#" guitarist to get into just one more! Let alone on an mmorpg forum. So I'm gonna leave you with uhm.... lets see.... yep, this seems appropriate:

Your talk about Malmsteen is drivel, however, that link to those three classical guitarists fucken rocked man!
Yeah classical guitarists are by far the godliest gods of guitar there is, hands down.
But you have to understand that electric guitarists not only steal classical techniques but also make up their own or barrow from other genres (such as blues).
And that is what is so special about Malmsteen and people like him - the ability to think out of the box and be a prodigy to their own...

He is a retard. Here's a rock/metal guitarist (aside from those others you mentioned for which I can only say ) that will rock your world:

A guitar god in his own weird way.

Sure it might not be uber fast and super technical. But it's got rhythm and it's got soul. It tells a story. Another of my favorites is Santana. And to not see Hendrix mentioned is blasphemy.

A Steve Vai want-a-be bro, nothing more. But with a little shred metal mixed in...

Yeah man I enjoyed Buckethead. Just to let you know, I don't define godliness by speed alone. Though, I do recognize Buckethead as a god and at the end there he as ripping them arpeggios extremely fast. I also noted he did all this without using a pick, which is always cool in my book. I also liked the mastery displayed in using the effects that he had and feed backing the notes on top of each other. And finally, a cool look - how many people have you seen play a guitar like that with a KFC bucket on their head?
Though I'm not much into Santana I do rank him as a god as well, but yes by all means, we should also pay homage to the King - Hendrix...

You guys totally forgot about the real Gods -- along with Hendrix: Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Robby Kriger... and Django Reinhardt:bananajoy:

Heh I only posted a link from Victor Smolski in hopes of you checking up on him, this isnt the only thing he does :p
Aaanyway, I refrained from mentioning Hendrix, Santana (hm noone mentioned Satriani :p) and all those in that category because it's kind of obsolete. No-one argues that they are indeed gods ;)
