The image below your rank is called Rank Image.

Its used for your rank in the forum. So i am guessing it depends on what rank you have to get a certain image.(Not sure). But it is a rank image i am positive :p

some has the same rank as me (marquis) but I don't see them with such a picture only me and zielski

oh now I understand it, it's some way of showing progress to the next rank. And surak isn't done yet with all ranks putting in the amount of spell icons for each postcount
