Hi all!

I use Linux Slackware 11.0 with Xorg 6.9 and an ATI radeon x700 video card.

If I try to start the game, after the update screen, and the clicking of the "Play" buton, the game crashes with a segmentation fault the first time, and every next try it freezes on a black screen sayng "server timeout retriving resource 32210, expected 0, received 0" (or similar) and i have to kill the process manually.

Firewall issues? Are you behind a proxy server to browse the web?

I already have configured properly my firewall (anyway, the same thing happens with the firewall down) and i am not behind a proxy...

I correctly recive the software updates, but the game doesn't start.

Some rare lucky times the game freezes on the support splashscreen (that one of ati and amd).

Nothing changes trying witth the safe mode.

The game communicates with it's resource server via HTTP, using the standard port 80... Your log shows that it's failing to get any resources.

If you can browse the web normally, it should work. Please verify your browser is not using any non-standard settings to work.

Yes, i noticed it used the port 80, but i don't have idea of what may be wrong...
I did some other tests, but my port 80 is not blocked, and my browser doesn't have any non-standard settings.

AMD Athlon64 3200+ (but i use a 32 bit OS)

i can't see anything of the game, the most "advenced" thing i can (sometimes) see is the image of ATI and AMD (and then freezes).

Or sometimes it crashes with a segmentation fault

i had a similar problem in the beginning and i found a quick solution for me.

As normally i had choosen a 32bit resolution in the beginning and then game crashes for me,too
(ubuntu dapper, ati 9600, pentium-m 1.7ghz)

Though when I use 16bit resolutions all is fine

do you have 3D acceleration?
installed correctly the fglrx driver?
try in terminal:
fglxrinfo

and post results.
i dont know if "radeon" closed drivers for linux works well, but here my ATI radeon 9550 works glarious... Im loving this game :D

3d acceleration is ok, and there are no changes with any resolution
