Because, we all are going to die

http://www.lhcountdown.com/

Large Hard on Collider (http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Large_Hadron_Collider) will be activatud! Teh Doomsday is near

The countdown timer was set to the 15th of May because there was no definite time given for the actual activation, recent events show that CERN wont be dividing by zero until much later on in the year, so now the countdown timer will be reset again and will be continually tweaked to go by the latest info that CERN are releasing.

So sorry to disappoint you all, but you wont be dying tomorrow.

I saw a Higg Boson today in a dream, it was so colorful yet irrational...

Bye people, the LHC could be the end of an era, and the dawn of a new world.

Higg bosoms suck

fermions rock

omg.. I just learned about that because the end is nigh..fermions leptons.. bosoms.. quarks.. I starting to like this..

There's NOT going to be a black hole ¬¬

Finally we will discover the portal technology.

You have a proton, then you accelerate it through a 27-kilometer long ultra-refrigerated (2 Kelvin, -271°C) curved pipe to make it collide with another proton. As a result of that collision, the two little particles break into its most basic components, which are going to be sensed by an insanely huge array of high-sensitivity detectors.

Yeah, it's almost like going back to the same second the Big Bang created the firsts stages of matter, so nothing dangerous will happen.

How boring. I was hoping for a new Big Bang.

Ok, here's the explanation in layman terms:

You have a proton, that's a tiny atom without any electron... Like a stripped atom. Then you accelerate it to the speed of light through a very cold tunnel and make it crash with another tiny nude atom. As a result of the impact both of the atoms will "go boom" and some guys with a lot of computers will see what happens.

It's like a train crash, but smaller.

Weren´t they like... not going to get anywhere near the speed of light?

Wait, I´ll just google it :P

EDIT: never mind, dunno where I read about that. Acording to the LHC site they will accelerate protons to 0.999997828 times the speed of light. That´ll produce a ton of energy... for the scale they are working with at least...
