NOTE: This is not a complaint thread.

NGD,

To be blunt, I believe that the new signature policy for these forums is just a little too strict. :)
EDIT: And by a little, I mean an additional line or two would be nice, not giant, hulking signatures like before.

A large signature (Edge's) was called into question recently (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=23285) and it was determined that the English community had few problems with signatures regardless of their size in most cases. In fact, most peoples' signatures do not even approach the same size margin as his did, and certainly did not cause any readability problems for users.

However, while I understand the need for the forum to be more readable to both the moderators and the developers, it seems quite counter-intuitive to first implement new avatars for us to use, then reduce the freedom that we were allowed for our signatures, since up until now it has been the only way to express ourselves here.

I would like to request that you find some kind of compromise between the moderators and the community, or at least add additional fields to our profiles to list things such as our characters. Currently, having had to delete almost my enitre signature to fit the new rules, it is going to be hard for newcomers to know who I am in-game if they want to contact me.

I am interested in hearing other members' views on this matter.

Regards.

P.S. I am running at 1024x768 myself, with 96dpi fonts.

I say Amen to the new rules, and it's only fair with the Spanish side of the forum. :thumb:
From what I hear the Spanish community doesn't tend to be as well-behaved as the English community.

I do not know if this is true or not, just rumors that I have heard from those who speak both English and Spanish. I always got the impression that NGD moderators simply had to be more strict there overall.

Hi Katiechan and other Community users,

This rule, as Magnet stated, is applied in the spanish forum. I know it's somehow too strict but it's needed to be like that. Signatures are a "threat" to forum readability and tidyness.

I'm very sorry if you don't agree with this, but I consider that three lines are more than enough to write about yourself and your characters. In some time you will see that this will help you read the forum in a better way ;)

Regards.

It is a bit weird, take magnet's post in this thread as an example. If you post less then a certain amount of lines in your message you're left with a lot of white space because of the size of the panel on the left showing your Username and Avatar.

gamemod,

While I agree with you here, I think the main problem for me is that it is currently just another measure to remove freedom from the users while benefiting NGD. In the past, it was the users' option whether they wanted to see signatures or not, but now signature rules are enforced upon the posters themselves.

Again I look to compromise. All other forums that have this same restriction allow images, but this forum does not. The rationale given in the past against using custom images for avatars and signatures is that NGD did not have the resources to moderate the forums to prevent mishaps from occuring, such as use of bad images.

So I will ask, with your presence, does this rationale still exist, or is there a new reason why we can't use images?
(I guess what I am asking is, if you can moderate text signatures, then why not graphical ones?)

By now, images will not be allowed in the signature, but in a near future I will analize the posibility of this feature to be added.

Now we just need people who didn't already have tiny signatures to comment. :mf_hide:
I'm joking of course. :)

Wow I knew it was only a matter of time before this came in.... man this makes me wish I kept my sig, I was looking forward to being the first one banned by the new guy :(

Now WHERE did I copy and paste that backup of my signature....

I have an easy solution. If you don't like the way NGD is going leave the game. XD If not just suck it up, and abide by the rules.:hat:
