Hi,
I am proud user of Linux client on Kubuntu 6.06 :)
However, I have one little suggestion: it would be recommended
that client puts its files in other place rather than home directory root (for example .regnum).
Thank you and forgive me for my lousy English :)

Initially, this irritated me as well. I enjoy keeping my home directory clean. So much so, in fact, that I ended up manually uninstalling Regnum and following the directions here (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=1617).
Basically, just create a .regnum directory within your home directory, then download and execute the installer there.
Though, I agree - a fix to where it automatically installs to something in the vein of /usr/local/games/ would be nice.
:)
(Hey, I'm on Dapper Drake as well! \o/ )

without breeching your system security impossible
you would have to start the game as root everytime before you play, so it could
write the updates into /usr/local/games ... for a game like this, it is indeed better to be installed inside the /home directories

I installed Regnum on "/home/sho/.games/regnum"; however, the game kept making the files on "/home/sho". To solve that annoying issue with regnum dumping all files on your home folder, create a launcher by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting "Create Launcher" (or modify the one you already have) and fill the "Command:" section thus:
sh -c "cd /home/sho/.games/regnum && ./rolauncher"
Remember to change the directories according to your own. Now move all the game's files (including the "live" and "test" folders) to your regnum directory and run the launcher.
