Actually americans speak native british, the one europe brought to New Land after Columb. The British present in United Kingdom now is the new one, evolved during last few centuries when immensurate political fights were affecting the vast difference between spoken and written word also creating very specific accent.

Both (New Land and British) are not the original Shakespeare's English. Even the Received Pronunciation changed radically through the last century!

You don't know how hard is to speak RP for me. I'm used to the neutral and american pronunciations.

Xeph, I just simplified it so I could write it fast. There's a more detailed history I bet in some wiki or something ^^ I bet you're right too.
Hell, I hate british. I find australian accent more cool, but when it comes to clear speaking and me understanding a language, I prefer american english as well ^^

I know, Piz. I just wanted to add some information ^^

American pronunciation is clearer to me, while British sounds somewhat unnatural. Though, I love some of their words and spelling, so my English is a mix between both xD
