Yes, I know some betatesters, and they are pretty much all saying that this game rocks. I would register and start playing right now if I had time to play, but I prefer not to get involved with another MMO now. If I could be addicted to a game like Regnum, I don't know how far WAR could bring me back. Probably to UO-level addiction and I can't afford it.

But this is an awesome game. It was created by many of former DaoC developers (and the same company, EA Mythic), which was itself the inspiration of Regnum. It's not far-fetched to suppose that everything Regnum does, Warhammer Online does better, and much, much more.

I heard the world was huge -- you can level by PvPing if you don't like PvE. There are instances (balanced fights), many classes are awesome, and the game/combat system is awesome (for instance, for one of the mixed Warrior/Healer class, you gain healing points by dealing damage... Something really tricky if you ever played a Warjurer who does Heal).

As for Linux support, I know the Wine guys are working hard to get it running better (it does run, but it's not really playable yet).

Non-instanced PvP is the first and foremost regnum advantage. It will be a disadvantage (at least from my point of view) of warhammer.

But all the rest sounds amazing.

I used to think like that, before I met Syrtis. Instances are an insurance for a fair fight. You can have non-instantiated fight in WAR just like you have in Regnum, but instances are a way of finding a quick fair fight, and help your realm/alliance to fight off the enemies (since you win points for your realm).

Also, the instances always have some light plots and strategic positions to use (like towers) so I'm sure it must be fun.

Obviously I prefer regular fights but those aren't always fair and balance :).

I played for almost a year (beta was turned off for three months), they deleted few main races like normal green ork and deleted main cities oO (SERIOUSLY, warhammer without Choppa!)

Really, Warhammer is nothing special except the visuals. It's like WoW, less candy-like, more evil and has just more features from the RPG.
Siege is the best what Warhammer has to offer and I have to admit it's pretty damn cool. But, the PvP, is uh. A little bit not fun. Automated and long :p

PvP zones are almost exactly like PvP arenas in WoW, 'cept if you win, you control the whole zone
I like public quests, where everyone can participate tho :D

Did you play the most recent updates and long enough? I got a lot of comments but the "boring" ones were for the earlier beta. Most MMOs are extremely boring in beta -- including fight. But at least some of them get out of beta at some point (and not just by name). I despise EA but Mythic seems decent and their choice not to include all races & cities was justified by not making concessions on the quality of the contents. I heard the world was already huge enough, and that all main classes were available for each side (even if not with all abilities).

Also, were you on European or US beta? I heard US beta was a lot, lot better (better community, etc). From what I've heard, you're truly the first one who only likes quests in this game. :)

European beta, I won for drawing a picture ^^
I played WoW beta (even alpha) for a year and hell, it was more fun than what WoW is now. It's over the top. Too many things. And Warhammer is, uh. Well I loved playing my Choppa :( after the update I played less, after reaching 30's and getting a mount it's really boring imho :p the first stages of the game were more entertaining ^^ Although I must admit that environment is better than in any game I ever saw, except for Ryzom ^^
