hello
since a moment the game become very laggy after a moment , as far i can see that seem the memory consuption just grow and then the system begin to swap and the game to lag , the only way is to remove that is to restart the game all linux players i know have this trouble , what ngd is going to do to resolve that ?
the game is very unplayable near fort or in big battle after some minutes it start to lag awfully (4-5 second freeze :(), so the players don't kill you ... the lag does :(

I'd also like to say I have this issue.
I run Ubuntu, and after a few hours of play the game becomes very 'sticky' it's definitely not network lag.
If I restart my game client then it's running smoothly again, no problem, but I don't consider this a fix, it does seem like a memory leak issue to me.

Hi skel and blaise69,
The presence of memory leaks is known. Please see my comment about them in this post (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showpost.php?p=523463&postcount=3). As always, NGD is working on the memory leaks and other lag issues in each new version of the game.
Currently there is no work-around except to upgrade your memory or restart the game sometimes. However, turning off certain graphics options such as "Terrain detail" and "Particle effects" will greatly reduce the amount of memory used by the game over time, allowing you to play longer.
Hope this helps. :)

Katiechan, this is not the usual leaks we've had for ever.
Since a few patches I've had this problem myself too. At some point, mem usage is off the hook, everything is paged out and eventually i have to reboot the system. Only on Linux.
Something was definitely horrifically broken during the last updates.

No problems here. But I have 2GB and by the time Regnum uses it all it's time for a break anyway.

I agree with Miraculix.
Performance has dropped badly the past 2 updates, including more and more freeze lags :/
Once again, only on Linux.

Once again, only on Linux. I don't know about the past few updates, but my fps dropped from 360 and downwards to 40 which is pretty annoying, would be nice for these leaks to be fixed
sorry for doubleposting:
I noticed that when my fps went down so did the cpus usage of the game (right now cpu percent is 50%

I have a weird experience with this problem.
I was testing KDE 4.1 for a while and when playing Regnum, after some minutes/hours my FPS dropped to 1 (more like zero) and gameplay ping rised to crazy numbers like 36.000 etc - seems to be the same problem you describe in this thread, it was after some update.
When I returned back to Gnome, I had never seen this again, the game runs like before and there was no update since the KDE4 times.
Ubuntu 8.04, safe mode always on

I encounter this under Gnome, Ubuntu 8.04, no safe mode.

Same here Mira. Seems the game has a knack on taking up all the 2gigs of ram I have. It started a few patches ago for me too. FPS has dropped dramatically for me too even on a fresh boot. I used to be getting 60-70 fps when I'm traveling alone, now I'm getting 20-25 with the same settings.

I'm running it here with SuSE 11 KDE 3.x on my laptop and the game consumes about 600MB RAM inicially with a slightly increase over the time, after half an hour it reached nearly 700MB.
All graphic details and this stuff acitvated o at highest detail level, also after playing some hours i don't have problems - what i noticed too is that the CPU usage decreased from 100% to 50% since the latest updates. :)
PS: I'm playing in window-mode because the fullscreen crashes on the laptop with an out of sync error :S
EDIT: ok, it now works also in fullscreen, don't tried it since july ;)

Happy to report that performance on the same machine under linux seems to be back to normal. About the same FPS as in windows, and no more of those lag/freeze/reboot issues, not so far at least. Let's hope they will never come back :p

Sorry to up an old post but since the last update the memory leak are very important on my computer when i logout the game. The most i see was around 13000 leak.
It can go very easy to 2000 or more. I never see so many since the begining. I know that officialy it's supposed to have no impact on the game performance but i have the fell it does.
As say in the previous post in this tread we have all know an increase of memory leak and a decrease of performance. Memory leak has go down on some update after and the performance too, at least on my computer.
And now i have 10x more than ever and poor performance....so...maybe something to do with this.

When I increased my resolution from 800x600 to 1024x768 memory leaks became very visible.
For anyone who can afford it, play in 800x600 to reduce memory usage and memory leaks.
