hi,
I have another pc with ubuntu 8.04 and and ati 9800 pro. All is working fine but i must put high texture in the option to see the game with all the colors. And with high texture it's very slow, my PC is not very strong. If i put low texture the game is running faster but the half game is white, half trees are white, some mobs..
At the beginnig i have thinked that i not have all the ressource but with the time the problem still exist.
I have tried "download all resource at one time" in the option but no changes.
I have tried other version of ATI driver too.
It is the game who don't work with ATI and low texture or my PC ?

I know many ATI users that have this problem, but some of them reported that upgrading from fglrx to the newer catalyst driver solves the problem.
You could try to download this driver directly from AMD's homepage, as I don't think it's available in the repos.

I have problem to compile it, it say me that he don't find "GL/gl.h" file.
On the homepage for this they say it's for radeon r200 and other intel chipset, mine is a r360.

It should work for your card as well as Iv used it on NVIDIA based cards on several laptops without problems.
Can you give the complete output of the error message?.. Im betting there is a package missing that your need. Maybe the mesa dev packages.
Try installing these packages:
libgl1-mesa-dev libglu1-mesa-dev mesa-common-dev
Are you running ATI's driver? If not install these as well.
libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx libglu1-mesa libglu1-mesa mesa-utils
Take care,

sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dev mesa-common-dev
Packages names may differ slightly since i use Debian, but search mesa and dev with your package manager and here you go.

ATI driver have a problem with regnum... it doesn't support shaders, so ati users (like me) cant see cool-water and many things like that.
The problem is at ati driver. nvidia users can use shaders without problems.

Your not wrong by any means.... but Many NVIDIA chipsets (laptops in in particular) probably not being TRUE nvidia cards perhaps.. still need this lib
*shrug* Now dont ask me to explain it :P

Ok with the mesa lib it compile. But after a correct install there is no change, trees and other are white... :(
It looks like i have the high texture and only some low texture. Griffos are correct, som caracter i can see the head or the tunic but not all. This was already before i install the libxtc.

:( sorry ..
I tried :( ... Hopfully some others members here will have a suggestion...
Try this one last thing: Completely delete the live folder in the regnum directory.. the start the game at select "Update all new resources at once" from the launcher options... perhaps this will help you ..

I have this problem on Ubuntu 8.04 for as well with the latest ATI drivers. Furthermore, switching to high texture quality (which is neccessary to fix the problem) causes extreme lag stalls in the game of 5-20 seconds in length every so often, usually when turning the camera. The game is now unplayable for me. :(
This is very disappointing, and I hope NGD does something about ATI support soon. Other games seem to be largely unaffected by such bugs, so I know it is not the ATI drivers themselves, especially since the quality of ATI has increased by several orders of a magnitude since the game was made.

I also have this problem. I have to use the highest texture quality value to fix this problem. I also solve the lag stalls using the "Force Safe Mode". With these two values I can play quite good even in large fort battles (and I play on a quite old laptop). The problem of safe mode is this mode doesn't show particle fx (some buffs use it and I can't see if someone casts DI or speed skills for example :( )
PD: Sorry for my poor english.

Yes, this is not a good solution.
Many ATI cards are fairly powerful, so we shouldn't have to make sacrifices like using Safe Mode. :rale:
Instead, the developers should work on actually supporting ATI hardware (which does work fairly good these days) instead of it being a footnote to NVIDIA. ATI may not be the best, but it's far from the worst.
By the way, Safe mode does not fix the lag stalls for me. It only reduces them. :(

linux have an unofficial support by now, so you need to praid to uncle surak :P
what ever i found an extrange comportament o.O
with shaders enabled the games goes with 1-7 fps, but with other window over it (and that window with the focus) the games incress the fps to 40 or more. but if you click on the regnum window (so the game recovers the focus) the fps goes down again.

I don't know about anything like this.
My graphics card was only mid-end over a year ago, I can run the game in 1280x1024 32-bit with all Regnum settings maxed out, 16X anisotropic filtering and 8X anti-aliasing and still get 20FPS on wars.
Are you sure some software is not interfereing like a compositing manager?
As for official support... Linux users are paying customers. Either we get a good client, or we don't pay for Premium. It's that simple. NGD can chose to not support it, but in doing so they lose money.
Here is an example: If I cannot see shaders, why would I buy tintures? I won't, because I can't see them.
Simple fact is most of Regnum's players comes from Linux.

Delete all the files and download again don't resolve the problem...
I have seen that with driconf we can enable the S3TC (it is disabled ?) but it will not run :(

you can check if you have s3tc textures doing:
glxinfo | grep s3tc
here is a manual about how to install it

PS:

maybe thats the problem. wih other modes the games goes ok? (full mobs graphics, etc...)

glxinfo | grep s3tc
GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc, GL_EXT_texture_cube_map,
Seems to be activated.
And yes with full texture detail it's ok...but very slow. In low or medium texture detail the half game is white.
