keyboard dont work properly:
character cant move when I press arrows keys
chat dont work : I see what other players write, but I cant enter any text
when I press enter key, I switch to ubuntu main screen (another enter gets me back to RO)
keys "i", "p" and "s" give tech data, lag and screenshot, as if "alt" key where pressed
mouse works (i can interact with nearby npc)
music works
screen is complete
i'm on ubuntu 8.04
both characters have the same problem
I'm on Horus but it doesn't work on experimental server too
help me please

It sounds to me like your computer thinks you have the "Alt" key pressed in always (alt-enter would toggle fullscreen), I don't think this is a regnum issue, but either something wrong with the hardware (ie the keyboard itself), or a setting somewhere in your window manager.

I've tested the keyboard here, it seems to work correctly with other softwares.
when I connect to RO, left and right arrows work to choose the character just before playing
As the computer where Ubuntu is installed has dual bot with Vista, I've installed windws version and it works (with lag)
So, we can exclude hardware as the origin of the problem.
however, i'd p be pleased to find a solution for ubuntu.
if you need me for any test, please, ask me

I have the same problem.
Also on ubuntu 8.04.
This happened only today after the newest update and was always working fine before, i.e. yesterday e.g.

Since the update I have had the same problem on Arch Linux, but only if i use gnome, which i prefer to kde. If i start Regnum on kde, there is no problem with the keyboard.

I've installed KDE and it works. However if would be fine if il could work also with gnome
Lo siento, hablo espanol muy malo; so i speak english :
lol, donīt worry, holas will handle with that too. :P
Hum, I have a system in english, and my physical keyboard is in english too, but I did added long ago to my "keyboard preferences" the layout "USA international (with dead keys)" so I can use my beloved ņ, á, é, í... when I hit "layout options" in "keyboard preferences" it shows "layout switching-->both alt key together change layout".
Going back to the game, inside, if I press both ALT then the keyboard become "responsive" although I lost my ņs an ís... For those of us that have 'the fever" it is a walkaround that will do it -and for those of us that havenīt started the halloween quests-, BUT I am definetly VERY uncomfortable, I SHOULD be able to use MY keyboard as I please to, and DONīT say is a matter of my keyboard config, it WAS ok BEFORE the "update":cuac: sure NGD will say "there is no official support" you know what can you do with your official? Aint worthy enough the linux players? How many are we? Donīt they [ngd] will ever pass by here? what are they waiting for? end of the halloween event? next week? Community fix?
I am just so sick

Just dropped by to say that my keyboard setup has no problems.
I use the colemak (http://www.colemak.com) layout on Arch Linux, but I have nothing kde or gnome related installed though.

Perhaps try upgrading openal?

okay but do I need to configure and make an install?
I can't find it in Synaptic or is there a deb file somewhere?
I am using Ubuntu 8.10

sudo apt-get install openal That should work, I guess.
I am not using Ubuntu so I cannot check it myself.
It's strange that you can't find it in Synaptic, it's a rather essential lib and I am sure it must be included in the repos.
Try to refresh your repos using Synaptic and then search again.
