I'm looking into some diffrent distros then ubuntu or fedora (ugly interface and kinda hard to get used to)
So which distros run this game with sound?
Also if the distro you mention has alot of verison tell me which one runs regnum the best with sound and all built in.
Debian works without problem. But to get a sound in the game you need to install OpenAL(libopenal). Game uses this library for sound so if this is not installed by default in your distro install it and everything will be ok.

Oh and I know why it dosent work on PCLinuxOS is because this distro is KDE based and not GNOME.

The desktop enviroment has nothing to do with it.
All distros - no matter the desktop enviroment - will run this game without a problem.
You may however need to install a few libraries using the package manager provided with your dist.

You can run the game without gnome or kde. In fact, I use Enlightenment DR17 and it works perfectly.
I recommend you Debian 5.0 (Lenny), because it's stable, secure and very reliable. Any mainstream distro should work.

The 64bit version of Arch Linux is also a good distro and I have no problems there, but please note that the installer does not work on a pure 64bit system.
Running the game executable fixes this (it retrieves all the necessary files), so ask someone for this executable if you want to try out a pure 64bit system. ;)

I just installed Ubuntu 8.04 and wow it is very impressive, it worked straight away. Did not crash once today. The sound worked. And best of all it ran like a dream in 32-bit detail mode. :)
I think that the Ubuntu distribution is one of the best Linux has to offer.

I'm playing the game in gentoo (2.6.21.5) and it works very well (I'm using XFCE).
I did install OpenAl doing:
emerge media-libs/openal
I'm playing with a portatil, the game works. Crashes can appear one or two (max) in a week. I play 3hs by day (average).
Several distros can run the game. You must decide based upon your taste (Many People play with ubuntu, debian, gentoo, slackware, etc, etc without problems)
Good luck with your decision.

All distros use the linux kernel with the gnu operating system, thus it will work on all of them.

But binaries are only available for i386 and amd64 archs. Too bad we can't use a PS2 or PS3 to play Regnum (that would be cool).

I thought that was implied, he only asked which distro was suitable, his question wasn't which arch it ran on (:
