I need to know because when I play it with ubuntu 8.10 there is no sound. Or am I just better off with ubuntu 8.04?

Probably there's just some settings to make your sound work (and the installation of libopenal) in Ubuntu, so check the GNU/Linux-support section, because the no-sound issue has been up many times before (there are threads with solutions to your problem):

To answer the question in your topic: yes, the game will most probably run in Fedora 10 (ok, I have not tried it myself, but there's no obvious reason for it not to work, at least not after some tweaking).

In Ubuntu 8.10 you have to install the package openal1 to get some sound.

Yes, it works on Fedora 10.
But I've troubles with some characters(there're just a boxes). Maybe it's due to my UTF-8.RU_ru localization, maybe, something wrong with my fonts(I'am not a guru in linux, so I didn't exactly).
Also there was no cursor till I turn on safe mode.

It does run perfectly here (server-side problems put aside).

I dont think UTF8 causes any problems. Slackware with same russian unicode locale works fine.

I'd fixed problems with fonts in rolauncher with installing "thaifonts-scalable.noarch" pakage :)
