i am using ubuntu and after i pick my realm it shows a bunch of white lines all over what i am guessing is what it is supposed to show and doesnt go past that....

What is your graphics card ?
What distro exactly

I assume you are using NVIDIA.
In that case, upgrade your drivers to the latest version.

That will solve it.
