View Full Version : (Horus) Fort Wars!

For the last week or two it seems the warzone has been getting so boring of late on horus no fort wars that last more then 5 minutes! and there seems to be no ambition to attack forts anymore.
it seems that ignis is only attacking us at night when they know we have no one to really attack! (this isnt a shot at ignis) and alsuis has tried to do a bit but i fine they have stopped fort wars aswell.
The point of this thread is to see if others feel the same way and to resolve the problem!

This situation sounds more like a problem related to the time zones of the other players here on Regnum. We can't really control that now can we? Best solution could be to try and get some more players on Horus in hopes of getting people on during various times. Some people can stay up late to play...but don't forget it's not their responsibility to entertain you all day xD
Just give it time I say...and find something else to occupy yourself in the meantime :P
Edit: I just realized that last statement in the first paragraph was a rhyme...I feel like a greeting card...
well I don't try to do it all the time...and it's not that hard...

yes a timezone can affect things this is a example!
Syrtis attacks Samal ignis come to defend but syrtis captures! ignis goes for herb instead of fighting to lure us out!
and syrtis has done it once or twice im sure over the time
Several things I observed in Horus:
- A lot of players are more interested in grinding than fighting in war.
- Some players avoid direct fights and choose to either take other forts to lure people out of their realm (like what you pointed out). While this is a viable tactic, it takes away the fun in the game IMO.
- A lot of level 50's are now leveling alts, which brings us back to the first point in my post.
- Some people prefer grinding boss mobs than wars. I noticed Syrtis can mass a huge number of players to get Vesper. 70% of whom I don't see anywhere else.

Horus wars have been like this:
Step 1: Take an empty fort of the enemy
Step 2: Wait for the enemy to come
Step 3: Enemy takes one of your empty forts
Step 4: After hours of waiting, someone decides to attack the other group
Step 5: The attackers naturally lose unless they have the numbers, defense is just too easy after 1.0.
Step 6: The 2 sides try to "strategically and cleverly" mislead the other side into going to an empty fort while they take (get ready for it...) another empty fort.
Step 7: Get bored and log out.
Step 8: Whoever has the most patience for doing nothing and stays logged in the most wins.
There's a simple answer for me to all of this: I just go to Ra where people have balls.

Lol.... I have to give you green karma for that. :D

We have a night crew of about 6 - 10 people (average) including myself. Nothing else to do besides take empty forts and hope someone pops up to play. We try to stay away from castles though so you don't get scared into going to your gate, however, when no one comes out to play we put the gates in danger and move to the next realm.
Alsius of late has really disappointed me though. All I see from them is hunting half dead grinders during the day and taking empty forts at night(waiting till we get bored with one after capturing from them and taking it after we've left to bother syrtis) Alsius use to be something to be feared, honestly a bit lacking of late.

Alsius is doing their best, for example we tried Stone yesterday... but its getting odd if you attack a fort with 10 ppl and 40 Syrts are waiting infront of the fort...
So, if you loose everytime because you dont have the number, ppl go grinding...
Then theres the timezone problem... alsius has alot young ppl who go to school, so alsius is very soon empty everytime... those who are old enough to play in the night switch to RA becauso nobody else is on, so alsius is empty all the night...
Im still waiting for the spanish ppl... maybe something changes then

Aice (eero =P)

I can only speak for my self, the reason im not in war as much i was before whit my
knight is due to the increadible annoying positioning bugs, it takes out the fun off being a
knight. So many as myself is playing ranged alts mostly hunters. And often on the late
times that you want to come and play whit us most off our high levels has gone to sleep
so we usually have 0-1 or if we are very lucky 2 high lvl conjus, and that means that
going up against a group off about 10 high lvl in fort whit from what ive seen allways 2
conjus it is pretty futile in trying to take it back. The few attempts mostly ends in an rp
feeding wave that usually ends in ppl get bored. And yes the running around to empty
forts is boring aswell, i think they should remove all freaking forts and put out large
battlefields instead so we were forced to meet in open ground instead where nobody
could run and take cover in a fort or similar. Last man standing wins :swordfight:
Tho what we really need is a well rounded population from all timezones so we could put
up a nice fight even at night. Atm when we are at peak and our "mini zerg?" is up for war
there can be nice fights whit iggies and syrts. But the dream is that time wouldnt matter
so ppl could have good fights every hour off the day.

I have to agree with Fury that it is very tough evenings in Alsius to have a group good enough to take a defended fort back.
We rarely have the firepower to scratch the door of a defended fort properly where it is easy for two barbs with areas alone to hold us back or for two three archers who send out their lvl 50 pet or DS from inside the fort.
I lately play the hunter more often because if I play the support conj there is even less firepower. I haven't seen a late evening (ET 10pm to 12am which is GMT 3am to 5am) party consisting of a higher lvl barb plus a higher lvl knight for a while.
Combine this with the fact that Alsius has a lot of people who recently reached the warzone ready levels. So we miss some tactics and good play but it will come.

Honestly Smurv, most of us have realized that it's nothing but an RP treadmill. Been there, done that. Your night crew is all higher level. Our night crew is mid level. What's the point? I hit "T" and go back to grinding.
"Gee, I got a new level today, gave and got some rp is a few good skirmishes, finally got enough points to fill out my build a little. Over all a good day. Let's end the day by getting pissed off in a lopsided RP chain clusterfuck at agg that's going to cost me 20k in repairs."
Great idea.
No thanks. Call Ikea. Those red flags at agg are starting to look like shit.

Hiya,
on muspell things go really cool, the fact that we try to concentrate on avoiding the pressure of having to attack 2 oof our realms forts( more than likely a castle and a fort) is pretty uncomfortable so you try to take your own back as fast as possible.. attacking is only really made if you've got all your forts or you're 1 min away from the one you actually wanted to attack...
Another thing is that there are loads of players on muspell which (if you don't lag) makes an excellent evening entertainment out of the whole thing ^^

Actually, the other day some Ignis 50s came to Aggers, whom were fought away. Our WZ groups consisted of the same numbers, only we had less high lvls. So instead of fighting the fort from us, they went and took an empty Trelle, which we tried and failed to take (Obviously). Then they took Aggers once it was empty..
I wish more people always in the WZ round the clock. Alsius 'has' to lvl in the WZ to get to 50, it would be nice if all realms had to do this. This way hunters would always have targets, and realm high lvls would have grinders to defend. Although I suppose Horus could just use more people period, with a bit more timezone (around the clock) consistantly.

Don't get me wrong. If there are enough for a strong party, don't hesitate to invite me. I'm just not going to join the RP chain gang anymore.
I'm using an alternate build for grinding, so heading into the wz means long run, birka, reset run to agg. The last time I did that, we all died several times, realized it was futile, and logged after 10 min.
If Ignis really wanted a fight, they wouldn't show up with guns to a knife fight :p
In effect, they are saying: Hey Alsius. Why you don't give us free RP anymore? I only have 10,000. That make me :'-(
As far as no more good fort wars, I was in 3 this weekend that lasted over 2 hrs each. Two were pretty evenly matched. The last one at Meni, we ended up doing exactly the same thing Ignis usually does to us. I collected a cool 200 rp, but, It cost my poor hunter dearly for the UberGuard. Have fun spending my money Efrendi ;-)

Guess its different,
When I play in fort wars, they usually last a long time. I know at Pines for example its the same, Ignis just plays its way cool and waits out, then when we hit its from a position of power.
Usually Alsuis gives up eventually, and Syrtis topples us slowly one by one. When Alsuis dosen't feel like fighting, then hell yeah we're going to move to another fort. Not our fault, this is war, and there are plently of mouths to feed with it, you just need to want it.
Alsius 'has' to lvl in the WZ to get to 50, it would be nice if all realms had to do this.
All realms do have to level, you'd be suprised how many people are leveling in Ignis, and continue to level. Most players are working now on their 3rd or 4th alts, you don't see alot of medium levels from Ignis in the warzone, much is usually just experienced lvl 40+ apart from the mornings where people do whatever they want.
Its been turned against us, but just remember who was in the weak realm when Horus started,

I don't think you understood my post (Or I didn't understand your response). From around 45+ and up in Alsius (along with some earlier levels through the 30s) the only mobs to grind on are in the WZ. Ignis has Meleketi Beach, Syrtis has Rasius Bay/Forest Beach.
Not that I dislike these realm differences, I think it makes it interesting. However I really enjoyed defending the old Menirah save and its grinders on Ra. More incentive for people to grind in the WZ would be nice. More targets for hunters, more reason for counter or defensive hunting.

Mmm no, I know that xD
I was saying that because I thought you were implying that Alsuis needs to level before they really do something in war, im saying its the same case in Ignis, except in Ignis most people already have war ready chars.
If you are talking about people grinding in the warzone, although Ignis has Mele Beach for those that prefer to grind in saftey, some grind in the orc camp and are killed on a daily basis by Rulez and Pano. :superpusso:

With the reduced spawn rate if you have more than 3 - 4 people on the beach it becomes pointless and you have to seek grinding spots elsewhere. With my knight I level 44 - 50 of eferias beach simply because mele was too crowded.
But yes the option is still there.
However, I'd like to know why samal save was moved. Did I miss a post about why they changed the spots or something because now Ignis has 2 southern saves and 1 northern with nothing in the middle. Just idle curiousity from looking at the map but still.

Yeah I made a thread about it, I think its unfair how Syrtis and Alsuis have Central saves that can get them to both forts, while Ignis has saves on the outside now, imo Menirah sucks now because if you die most likley you die, who the fuck uses Menirah save besides levelers.
I think they moved the saves to make forts more accessible, which only made it worse in some cases, like Trelleborg and Samal. Menirah save was moved afaik to help against save camping, which now happens at the orc camp.
I know this isnt an accurate map, but bear with me, because this is how it is:

It doesn't help against save camping though. When leveling my barb on meni beach I still got save camped. It doesn't matter where the save is, as long as it is a save it will be camped. The only legit reason I can see for moving samal save is to place it closer to dean rha since aggers is so close to pozo, however, thats complete crap since syrtis have no save anywhere near evendim.

Right, but even so you still cant just hop down from the save to Daen Rha, you need to walk around the cliff because it won't let you slide down the cliff right next to the save.
Even if thats the reason it sucks.

Agreed, and to add to that I miss the battles in the field on the way from old samal save to the fort. So many obstacles and such made those open field battles a lot of fun.

Pinos save is too far away from Trelleborg to be useful when attacking it.

I guess the possible unfairness of the Ignis saves is countered by the easier and faster access to the enemies castles.
Having said that there is surely still a lot that can be tweaked with regards to positions of key objects in the warzone.

Maybe, but its still in the center of your wz. Look at the center of the Ignis wz and what do you see. A central market with no save near it...
