Hello, i run linux mint felicia and i have ati radeon 9550, i whas ubuntu user for several years using the same ati radeon 9550, it whas an nigthmere xD. My best gues is becose of the poor fglrx proprietary driver wich it crash my linux instalation evry time.Nevertheless since ubuntu 8.04 i whas able to run compiz-fusion with 3D desktop in deacent condition, the same i vhas been able to play 3D games(Urban Terror, Planet Penguin Racer xD, TORX, Nexius, Cube . . . allot of them xD, and manny more) on ubuntu and mint, without using the damnet fglrx proprietary driver, in very good condition.
However regnum online it does not work i got this message:

Unsupported video card!

Your video card is too old
You haven't installed the latest available drivers

My question is: it is possibile to play regnum on this grafic board using open source drivers or propryetary driver?
There is somone else using this grafic board and it has manage to play RO, How?

TNX xD
And one more time i use linux mint felicia 2.6.27-7 generic felicia is based on xubuntu 8.10 intrepid, using fluxbox 1.0.0 and Xorg 7.4.
TNX Again

I have a similar problem with a Radeon 9600XT (256 MiB)

*EDIT* Toor81 are you using the FGLRX drivers (proprietary ATI drivers)?
Using FGLRX solved the problem for me.

I'd tell you how to fix this error, but it's pointless since you're going to get even more annoyed after you start segfaulting. Anyway, your graphics card is not supported any longer by Ati which means you have no access to fglrx (if you don't wish to downgrade your kernel, xorg, etc) and all you're left with is open source driver (radeon). Because of that game won't run.

EDIT: oops, disregard that, i forgot that onemyndseye solved the segfault with open source drivers, so here's 2 links:

Hi, I use ATI 9250, and I did steps like NC already posted you:
http://regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showpost.php?p=171072&postcount=7
After that, Regnum started to work, and no more unsupported card message. So far, I have no problem with it, and runs smooth. This doesn't require anything with kernel (the link I gave you).
Before taking these steps, I was able, like you, to play all other games, except Regnum.
I hope this will help.

ATI 9250? With the r200 chip?
It runs smooth?

Dang, if I'd managed to get it to run smooth on that chip I'dve actually been playing in Nov 2007.

yup, r200. :)
I just did those steps I posted (I was even recently installing system and still works ok). I played both on Windows and Kubuntu, and game just goes faster and smooth in Linux. Also, I have all those window effects on, but still my FPS is rarely below 40 (except in crowds, ofc).
