View Full Version : Latest update destroys the linux client

I launched the game today and got a bunch of updates. Then the launcher just bombed with no error messages. When I tried to re-run it, I couldn't because rolauncher had been renamed to RegnumOmlineOld.exe (inLinux?) and there was no longer a rolauncher file in my regnum directory. I nticed that there was a SelfUpdate folder with a new rolauncher and some html files. I tried running that and got a file not found error for libpng.so which is in the live/libs folder where it alwys has been.
I then tried to download the latest linux copy from the web site, but when I click on the Linux download buton it sends me the 313MB windows installer.
If you have quit supporting the Linux client it would have been nice to have a message saying so on the web site :)

It works good for me...
I guess, if you move the rolauncher out of the SelfUpdate folder to where it belong (in the live folder) and then launch it, that might work ?
Because if you run it from the SelfUpdate directory it wont be able to access the libs properly :)

I have such a problem, too :(:(
Some hours ago, it worked perfectly.....
I start rolauncher, "accept", enter password, and i see that "rolauncher" is beeing downloaed (wtf?), then it crashes with
./rolauncher: error while loading shared libraries: libpng.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(of course installed and in /lib and /usr/lib)
, my rolauncher becomes removed and a rolauncher in SelfUpdate gets generated. If I try to start those, it at once crashes with the same Error-Msg.
Moving to live-folder and very much things did not help :(
And the wine graphics look damned ugly...
I want to play Regnum :(
I already reinstalled everything! Seems like an very bad server-side update error...

You should link the file /usr/lib/libpng12.so to /usr/lib/libpng.so until we fix this issue.

Thank you so much!
The windows client didnt even want to login me *hehe*
For other users which dont know how to make a link:
sudo rm /usr/lib/libpng12.so
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libpng.so /usr/lib/libpng12.so
[instead sudo you could become root with "su" or so...]
(did not work with the old libpng12.so for me)
Of course you should have the required pkgs installed, but I think you have if you already played :)

It should be fixed now. You should re-download the launcher from the web page (or from here (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/downloads/files/rolauncher.tar.gz)) and it will patch itself to the last version.

Wow. What an incredibly fast response to a problem!
You rock surak :fingers: :fingers:
Thanks for the great game, building us a liux client (that works better than the Windows client IMHO   ) and the great support!

A problem again...
Some minutes ago my Regnum crashed! I could not do anything anymore.... I was in a good party, sad :(
And now, i start rolauncher, log in, press play, my new window opens, but it only continues to the ATI&AMD screen... then it crashes again :(
Terminal:
(process:6710): Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library (comes everytime)
(rolauncher:6710): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale. (comes everytime)

Maybe the logs help:

problem solved: "game" (wtf chose that name?) was still running. so i couldnt start regnum anymore without crashing. after killing "game" everything worked well.
