Hello,

It's been 15 hours I tried to login on RO but I'm unsuccessfull. It seems that ressources data can't load properly. I tried to remove my live folder (nothing good happened). I tried to uncheck the download all ressources at once and wasn't really better.

The best I could get is that:

hehe,

I deleted RO after 1.0.5 hotfix; only kept the launcher.

With 1.0.6 I gave RO another try and started the launcher. OMG, my router skipped connection to my ISP every 4 min while downloading. I had to reboot it manually.

So I asked Ente to send me her whole regnum folder.

Dracus,

I had problems after the last update as well... only solved (oddly enough) by downloading the updated installer from the NGD website and installing from scratch.

Though my problem was abit different than yours I feel it was related. Mine was missing/corrupted textures.. the standard fixes did me no good either.. i.e. deleted the regnum/live folder.. once the client updated the problem was still there.

Hope that helps

I have 9.04 Ubuntu

I'm having the same issue.

I Click accept
enter name/password
click Horus (International / EN)
click Enter game
then the progress bar says "verifying" then it begins to load (it takes forever)

Then I get this Error: There was an error patching the game

I'm trying to run Regnum on an E machine
Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty)
Kernel 2.6.28-11-generic
1 gig of ram
Pentium 4 (3 gig)
GeForce 8400 GS (driver 180)

I just uninstalled and reinstalled Regnum to see if this would solve my problem. Unfortunately... this was unsuccessful. Only now, when I login the status bar just keeps loading, example: 234781 / 195636 kb.

As you can see, it loads past the projected amount of kb and never brings the game up. :dumbofme:

If no one replies in this thread, I'm going to start a new one about this problem. I'll just copy and paste to a new thread

Spam is rather not solution. Let's email NGD.

I wouldn't call it spam! Just seems this thread is a bit old and might get lost in the mire... Ok, I'll BUMP this thread instead, does that make you happy?

Don't worry about plat, shes just grumpy because she can't get her daily fix of RO ;)

Well, I discovered upon a reinstall of Ubuntu 9.04 that my problems was in my original installation of Ubunutu. That being said, I originally had Ubuntu installed inside of Windows Vista via Wubi. I don't recommend this option for installing Ub, Kub or Xub... I had alot of issues trying to run Regnum and Plane Shift with this type of installation. I actually was able to get Plane Shift to work but not Regnum. Not only did I have issues with MMORPGs but also with the Ub OS itself. It kept crashing out on me and giving me guff. I actually reinstalled it 3 time with Wubi. I shoulda' learned my lesson after the first install.
So, I uninstalled it in Vista and did an actual dual boot and put Ub in it's own partition. I downloaded Regnum via the instructions on this here fine forum and viola it works like magic! Yay!:punk: Unfortunately, I'm still having one issue (two if you count Plane Shift crashing out every 5 minuets)... there is no audio what so ever. I tried adjusting things in the options menu with nil success! I'm hoping that some one can direct me to a step by step solution to this problem...

Actually, your original problem sounds like mine here (http://regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=43378), which was fixed with a new launcher the other day.

For sound, you need to install OpenAL ("apt-get install openal" on Ubuntu if I remember correctly).

Yeah I think the new launcher is probably the reason why it worked this time around... I still have to say that I had nothing but problems with the OS it's self when it was installed inside of Vista so I think it may be safe to assume that there would have been other issues if this problem was solved and the system was in the same status it was before I installed Ubunutu in it's own partition... Pheww... whata' mouthfull...

could be something with permissions maybe?
maybe cant overwrite game files?
check if the launcher is owned by u and executable..

in the other hand u can try to run it with sudo (tho its not recommanded)

For sound, you need to install OpenAL ("apt-get install openal" on Ubuntu if I remember correctly).

I tried this code in the terminal with no success... Here is a copy of the terminal after I tried twice:

clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$ apt-get install openal
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install openal
[sudo] password for clyssus:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for clyssus:

E: Couldn't find package openal
clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$ apt-get install OpenAL
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?
clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install OpenAL
[sudo] password for clyssus:

clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$

As you can see I forgot to run as root and misspelled my password both times... :D I'm such a Linux n00b... :harhar:

sudo apt-get install libopenal1

Is there anything else I need to do once I enter my password and let it run?

The last lines are:

Processing triggers for libc6 ...
ldconfig deferred processing now taking place
clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$

Now the terminal is not doing anything, just has a flashing cursor.

Xpander123

its done :)

now start your regnum launcher in terminal and check what errors you get

might be that symbolic links are needed

also if you use ubuntu, like you said. this uses pulseaudio which may sometimes be freaky.
you can try launching game with:

aoss /path/to/your/regnum/rolauncher

or

padsp /path/to/your/regnum/rolauncher

Klyssus
06-15-2009, 12:08 AM
clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$ /home/clyssus/regnum/rolauncher
clyssus@clyssus-desktop:~$

As you can see, not one single error. It worked quit well, thank you my friend!
Now that I can hear the game, I have to say the music is quite nice in Ignis. You get a torrent of smilies Xpander123... thank you! (warning: gratuitous use of smilies)

OpenAL (which Regnum Online uses) has a native ALSA output "device", so running padsp or aoss is not useful as you're unlikely to be using the OSS driver. Insert more TLAs and FLEAs here.

I can't for the life of me work out why Ubuntu doesn't ship with OpenAL as a default package. It's in the repositories, it's small, and it's used by a lot of third-party applications that aren't installed through the package manager. Anyway, this is waaay offtopic.

I would redownload the whole package from the site to make sure everything is done right.

And then if problem remains, use the force Luke, use strace/gdb.
