Unsupported video card!

Not sure if this has been covered or not, but I get this error message after I click Login. Help?

There are three possible causes for this error:
1. Your video card is too old
2. You haven't installed the latest available drivers
3. You haven't installed the latest DirectX version

I know that Ubuntu and Linux don't use DiectX, so that possibility is ruled out. My video card works, I played Regnum on this comp when I had Vista. That means my problem is #2. Any ideas what drivers I should get? Thanks. :imstupid: If you need any additional info feel free to ask.

First, what video card DO you have? Vendor and Model would be nice.
If it's anything apart from nVidia or ATi, I'd suggest looking at this thread (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=31371&highlight=s3tc), especially the parts about S3TC (libXTC is slightly dubious and highly unsupported by anyone).

ok, umm... it says my graphics card is "Graphics Media Accelerator 950".

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-s4527

Never mind, I figured it out, but I will post what I did to help anyone else who may be having the same problem.

via synaptic get mesa-common-dev, mesa-swx11-source, and mesa-utils if you do not have these already.
then in your console (konsole) type: sudo apt-get install driconf
then simply type driconf in the console. you can change your graphics settings from here to suit your needs. make sure that enable "S3TC texture compression" is enabled.

All you had to do is put the error message in search!

Including a thread I made when had similar problem, with solution & other hints.

I will post a thread to make sticky later on (why the heck, in any game I play, I have to write the documentation? :D)
