Don't know wtf happened; however it's uplayable for me. Was just fine until this update. I actually started seeing this on AMUN but I've been told it's expected due to all the crap on amun.

Game will run fine for a bit then BOOM both CPUs 100% consumed.

Still happening no matter what I do I stay in-game for about 10 minutes and BAM both CPU cores are at 100%

Please some assistance NGD - this was not happening until this update.

Hi Solarus,

Could you post here your hardware specs for us to find the problem?

Update:

I modifed powermizer settings to force performance to max and still no change. After about 10 minutes of game play CPU Cores go to 100% (both) and the game freezes.

Workaround for those interested (Thanks to Ulrin).

If you force RO to be bound to a specific CPU then the problem goes away.

Using taskset (example):

#>taskset -c <cpu-number> ./rolauncher

This will bind RO to a given CPU. So far it's working I'll report if it starts jackin up.

I have my core2duo 6300 on 100% for both core too but i have no freeze. Are you sure your system is stable with voltage/temperature ?

Yeah - didn't have this problem at all until 1.0.8 update. It seems that binding the game to a given CPU is a work-around.

i have the same problem as i posted on another thread, on 1.0.7 i got a steady 28~33FPS, now im struggling to keep 11FPS, both cores get maxed to 100%, i will try the workaround posted and reply with my results

I have low FPS since 1.0.8 update. I do some tests in Horus. If i play at 1024x768x16 Low Details, Particles and Lightning On, i get around 15 FPS. If i change to 1024x768x32 Low Details, Particles and Lightning On, FPS are normal - around 60 like in 1.0.7

There is something connected with colour depth, but i do not know what. I can post xorg.conf or other configuration files if needed.

OS is Debian Lenny, NVIDIA 7300GT, driver 185.18.36
Pentium 4 3Ghz, 1GB RAM

hi,

same problem here but without using a dualcore pc.

since the last update to 1.0.8 regnum is very laggy on my linux-system (dont know if its a problem on win).
fps go down to 11-12 in battels (old version 20-22). the whole gameplay is not so "smooth" since the last update.

one clan-member runs regnum on linux (archlinux) to - he told me that he has the same problem - even when he play the game in safemode.

i play the game on server nifelheim
my system:

hw: amd 3000+ ,nvidia geforce 6800gt, 1000mb ram
sw: suse 11.1

ps: thanks to ngd that you support linux - for that i love you :wub2:

and another with same problem - low FPS and cpu usage maxed. Was great before this patch.

Same here. Very low fps in linux. I even dusted of an old windows xp partition to test and then I get anywhere between 40 and 60 fps, while in linux I'm stuck between 12 and 25 fps.

Specs (plz don't laugh too hard):
Althlon XP 1700+
Nividia 6200, 256mb
1 gig Ram
Kernels 2.6.28 and 2.6.30
Nvidia driver 185.x.x

not game developers - I'm one that is probably out until I hear of a some kind of fix from someone as this one didn't help me.

I've had to play on low settings ever since update 1.0.6.
(Also have dual cores @ 2.00 Ghz, nVidia 9200, and 2GB RAM)
I used to be able to record full scale videos too, but it's impossible since Regnum eats the CPU's completely, its really funny how I can play other games with seriously higher graphics with more FPS and detail then Regnum.

this does not work for me... no difference between 16 or 32 colordepth.

still have these laggs. i dont fell a fluid gameplay like ngd wrote it in the changelog.

plz NGD look for this problem and fix it! :rale:

i heard from many linux-users that they have this performance-problem and they cant play the game anymore.

i changed the resolution from 1024*768 to 832*624, and got same results in horus (32bit depth), later i went and tried some paint in anum and noticed i get 60fps and much lower cpu usage in anum, how come this is so? maybe something to look into?

I dont notice a fps drop on the linux client. I use a Radeon HD 4650, Athlon X2 with 2.3 GHz, 2 GB RAM, ArchLinux 64Bit.

Seems everyone who noticed a fps drop on linux has a nvidia card?

I guess I will be the odd one.. My performance is equal or perhaps a LITTLE better.. Max of about 120fps with a average of about 75. Sweeps in ranges of about 50-120fps. Ofc this is all depending on the amount of players being rendered.

Running RO at 1280x800 32bit with all settings "Medium"

System Specs:

Cpu model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz
Ram: 4gb ddr3

Video: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600M GT (rev a1)

Version info:
NVIDIA 185.18.36
Mesa - 7.4
Xorg - 7.4
Kernel - 2.6.31-linux-phc+onemyndseye (Linux-PHC + RT Kernel) x86_64

Distro - Linux Mint 7 Gloria - x64 Edition (Ubuntu jaunty base)

I am however getting alot of crashes... far more than before the update. Usually with one of these backtraces

Crash logs:
** EDIT: Have now produced dozens of unique backtraces. Will investigate further **

Ubuntu Jaunty
AMD Athlon 62 x2 4200+

Both cores run maxed at 100% which of course produces a lot of heat.
I have no FPS drop, rather a slightly increasement BUT the game does not run fluent. I play in windowoed mode on 1024*768, everything on low and I have like 80 FPS then but it's not fluently at all.
When limiting Regnum to one core displayed FPS are lower but the game runs fluent.
This just happened after the latest update.

!.07 i had about 50-75 fps in both windoze and linux.

After update i get 75-130 FPS windows and 15-50 in linux with all 4 cores pumping at 50-80%. In addition to the lower fps, i get terrible choppiness, which i think is somewhat independent of the FPS issue as i have played before with 35-40 fps and it was far more smooth than this.

hi,

a clan member found a workaround for the lagg-problem and fps-drop. :metal:
there is something wrong with the resources!?!

you have to delete all sdb and idx files in the regnum-folder.

now regnum will install all files new and it works without laggs.

thanks to mofo for the workaround!!!

the workaround works so far so good, but the new rock-textures are still a problem.

when i run around a rock fps-drops massively. plz ngd check this issue out.
im still not the only one with this problem. many users have this problem too.

surak go go go for work!!!!!xD

this worked for me! i have a higher than before 75fps! apart from near rocks, i get 20 near them, but still, mustn't grumble... anything is better!

While my CPU is now 1 core at 100% and the other 3 at 5-20%, my FPS and general GFX quality is still as poor as it has been since this update. I still get 15-40 or so when i used to get 50-75 (windows is still 75-130 when it used to be 50-75). Exact same settings on both windows and linux, and as i dual boot, its the exact same hardware. Perhaps tomorrow i will attempt another stab it updating the gfx drivers (though NVIDIA is infamous for being a bitch about updating).

I run Linux on
AMD 3200+
ATI Radeon 9600XT 256Mb

Since recent update , when i summon something the fps goes low like 1-10 fps (unplayable).
On average it runs ok with full graphics for around 20sec then fps goes down to below 10fps for a few sec then goes back to 25-35fps.
i checked my version and it starts with 1.0.2 !
I deleted the idx and sdb files and after the whole download the problem is still the same.
please help.

Hi, i have the same Problem, i tried to reinstall the game but the problem is still the same.
It seems to be that there are some sdb files erroreous. I hope this will be fixed soon, because it makes Regnum unplayable.
