Running fine with these specs, but...

Intel E2180 Core-duo 1.6ghz
2 gb RAM
GeForce 7300 GT/PCI Express 256mb
Kubuntu Karmic (up to date)

The game seems to run just fine provide it is fixed pipeline. I was hoping to run shader model 3.0 and have at least medium graphics, but it's choppy every which way. Is it simply my hardware? Or should I attempt different drivers? Currently, I'm running the nvidia drivers that come in the repos.

It is most likely the video card holding you back. I have a geforce 8400GT on in of my computers, and it can only run fixed pipeline without lagging. I actually had to upgrade from a low end 7-series (either a 7200 or 7300... can't remember) because I could barely play solitaire on Win 7.

Yes, i realize you are in linux... my point is your video card may be past its lifespan and it's time for an upgrade. My main computer is running a 9600GT, and I average about 10FPS lower in Arch Linux than i do in Windows.

I took what you advised to heart and picked up an Nvidia 8400 GT 1gb today. Installed it and regnum is BEAUTIFUL with full graphics. It's smooth and I'm getting around 40fps out the box.
