Did a friend tell you about it?
Did you find it online?
I found it on a forum for mini-games. Browser based ones, like Miniclip.
I went to the forum to chat, and I found this thread called Regnum Online. Someone there said it was like a free version of WoW.
At the time WoW was completely new but I couldnt afford it, so this sounded really nice.
Heres THE thread that made me join the game.

Daniel7, yeah. thats me.
None of you will understand what it says, tho. Except maybe Znurre.
So, I started in the Realm Ignis because it had a dark feeling to it.
I went to 7th(or 6th) grade back then, that's when I had my Emo fase.
So...yeah
When I think back at it, I still cant figure out if it was a mistake or the biggest load of Win ever. And I wonder how my life would have been it id never start playing Ro.
Guess I'll never know.
Now, I want your story :D

I heard about it off a freind, Tyler, back around when it first came out, apparantly he had a knight in Ignis, anyway my Pc back then was rubbish but later on once I got a better PC (about a year later) he had left the game but I remembered it and tried it out, superhealerslut (dave :D:D) invited me to INQ in Fisgeal and the rest is history :)

Was searching for an MMO with a mate.
Found Regnum on mmorpg.com played for abit, he quit, I stayed.
Four lvl 50's a level 42 and several <20 chars, 30,900,000+ xp, 110,000+ RP, two years, hundreds of £'s and many good friends later - here I am, and, if I may; the rest if history.

The Linux client wasn't working when Regnum was launched, so my brother couldn't play RO at his own pc but instead had to play downstairs where I could see what he was playing. So I asked him what he was playing and I ended up playing RO now while he quit some time ago.
I don't remember the site but I remember how I got here.
I wanted a MMO that worked on Linux as I was considering shifting to that OS at the time. I did a google search and managed to find Regnum. At the time a lot of friends was pestering me to play WoW but I really did not like it.
When I played Regnum, I found it had a nice feel to it, besides it being free to play of course. I started with Ignis where I remain 100% to this day. One of the biggest strong points of the game that has kept me is the community. Regnum seems rather unique in this respect. Kinda like a family here. Even your enemy is your friend (mostly).

Awesome thread!
I knew about this game for a while before I started playing. Vyth and Scarf had been trying to get me to start playing RO, but everytime I thought about playing an MMO, I thought back to all those news articles about some kid dying at a internet cafe because he played some game for 72 hours without eating or drinking. Frankly, nothing is worth being that invested in.
I finally broke down after many months of feeling like I was leaving myself out of something which looked pretty awesome.
I had just gotten done watching Tombstone for the 45th time in my life, so I went out of my way to make my character look like what you see now. I still think the resemblance is striking.
I can honestly say that I regret not joining up sooner.

My wife spends alot of time on facebook and I was getting bored watchin TV, so I did a Google search for free online games. RO so far has been the best free online game I have played, and the friends I have made have kept me playing...
And like Artec said, most of the people I fight I also respect and (mostly) consider my friends
They must like me If they always target me right? xD

My friend found it and told me about it. I had never played an MMO before but had always wondered what they were like, so this was my first.
So he had me join ignis and I loved it as soon as I started. He hadn't planned on staying for long though, just something to distract him until Christmas... so he quit 1-2 months afterwards, while I stayed. (He still wonders why I keep playing to this day, lol.) 1.5 years later I started playing in Horus/Alsius.
And here I am now, 2 years, 4 clans, several friends and 2 lvl 50 chars later.

About early 2008 I was looking for a good mmorpg with a good storyline and something more to pvp than just one vs one or clan vs clan fights. Stumbled across RO, joined Ra (there was no Horus). After leveling my Alsius conjurer to 15, I decided RO was much to hard to level (yeah I was a leeeeetle less patient back then :p ) and nothing but snow landscapes, so I got bored, and quit. A few years later I stumbled across RO again, to find out that the long-awaited invasions were one week from being released. Frantic to get in on the history, I jumped onto Horus and made my conjurer. I was fortunate enough to take part in the first invasion battle on Horus as an epic level 13...:angel2: ......and the rest, well, it's just self-explanatory. :p

Early January 2007 I was on a LAN.
I happened to stumble across Regnum Online while surfing on www.happypenguin.org.
I had just bought a new computer, and the built in graphic card did not work, so I had to use my friends computer (also running Linux) to play it.
He did not get to use his computer much that LAN... :p

I found it on a search i think of some games thread on a linux board..maybe pclos or mandriva.
I was pregnant :p so I needed something that would preoccupy me for 7+ months, and make the burden of slowly going insane and feeling like my body wasn't my own anymore bearable(not being able to hang out with friends because of lifestyle differences, I.E. partying etc etc.)
so a few years later, i'm still playing, and have a beautiful daughter named Samara :)
I found a thread about it at ubuntuusers.de
Later I founded the german Regnum Online community but that's another story.
I was looking for an MMORPG that ran on Linux since I had just switched from Windows. RO seemed to be the best of the games with a Linux client so I tried it out. I made a Conjurer and met Anpu and the newly formed Inquisition at the hills surrounding Korsum. I was about to quit given the game is rather dead on my timezone but there were great leveling parties with our clan and I started to enjoy the company of my clan mates. That's when I got hooked.

I installed Linux and wanted to play some MMORPG so i started playing Eternal Lands, where I joined Yugo clan.
After few months there were less and less Yugo members at Eternal Lands, and finally I remained alone.
I contacted Deyan on Yugo forum and found out that they all (more or less) started to play RO, so I joined.
Rest is history LOL!

I switched to Linux and I was looking for some games, RO is my first MMORPG I played.. http://wiki.ubuntu.cz/Regnum%20Online
Deyan introduced me with Regnum, when I got bored playing EL. Now I m glad he started to play again RO, and moved clan Yugo here. Thanks to him, I chose Syrtis and met many good people on both servers. I would be Alsius (because of blue color, my favorite one) if he didn't influent on my choice.

I too used to play Eternal Lands. It was because it had a native Linux client, but after some time I got bored with it. After playing only offline games for a year or so, I thought I'd try an MMO again. I think it was on happypenguin.org (http://www.happypenguin.org/) where I stumbled upon a notice about that MMORPG that just came out of beta.
Looking around on the forums while it was downloading, I decided to join Syrtis because that was supposed to have the most english speakers. That was a mistake I later regretted and now have corrected. Damn you GGs for having been so much fun to play with that I just had to stay in Syrtis for so long. :p

wikipedia! \o/
I always wanted to try an MMO so browsed wikipedia (my experience with the internet was rather poor then...still is xD), I found and tried RO, failed miserably and forgot about it for a couple of years (I regret that a lot) then almost a year ago I stumbled onto RO through wikipedia again, then I started playing

Found RO hiding in an obscure thread on graphics cards on some linux forum. Was one of those "how do I stop that mothef^&*ing message...it won't let me in game, what do you mean I need direct x!?" threads.
I started playing (well me and Scharf) in Syrtis (I know newbie right), and for about a week it was awesome. Then I met Nightchill. He promptly forced me to switch to Ignis :D:D:D:D. I'm glad I did though, I've met some of the best friends I could ask for. (As an aside I've introduced Wyatt Earp/Q, Terekon, and Neith to the game) I also met and married the love of my life after meeting her in-game. So...hmmm guess I owe NGD a thanks?

so, the way I see this:
1) you meet this unknown person (at least to me) called Nightchill
2) you become best friends
3) you marry
4) ???

Well, yesterday i spent some time grinding for drops, so that makes it 3 hours every 3 months :p
Maybe in half a year you will see me more, its the balance what keeps me from playing, its not that i dont want to,

Let's see.
Looking for Linux MMO on google, yadda yadda yadda blah blah blah. Nothing you haven't read before, except that initially I was put off by the predominance of Spanish speakers on Ra, and I only really properly started playing after a year of lurking on the forums (mostly to see if NGD would stop using S3 textures and also make then engine run faster for the low quality of graphics I perceived), and my interest was renewed by the announcement of Horus (days after I'd bought a new graphics card).
