Hey guys,
this text is not for NGD, but for you, the community. I've been playing this game for 2 years. When I started, it was fun, there were some things I could discover and enjoy such as new levels, locations, realms, classes and stuff. When I discovered everything, the game was still fun cause of gameplay, but the fun is gone and it's been gone for quite a while. The main thing why I can't stand this, is the logic of this company, which is, in my opinion, so bad - they don't interact with their community.
NGD needs to realize that they are screwed without their community and they need to start looking after it. It's all about psychics - nerfing stronger classes and taking from people their powers (because of less work), instead of improving the weaker classes and adding new powers, doesn't make the people feel well. If the people go ask why the game changes the way it does, the company mostly ignores, which makes the people feel like there's no interest in them. The game has got a lot of bugs and they aren't fixing them - they are fixing only the bugs which can benefit the players somehow, that fact leaves the people pissed off as well, specially if they contribute in bug catching and their reports aren't even read. They want to improve their game, who wouldn't, but they are doing it the wrong way - while there's nothing to do in-game (lacked gameplay), they are improving graphics. They should have rather made the crafting system. Horus, the server I've been playing on, is one big problem cause of imbalanced realms. One of the developers should really try to play against a zerg camping a fort, should try the dying over and over - and if people go ask for a solution, not there's none, but there's not even a response. If you look at Horus population, it wasn't different a year ago - I mean the average count of players online - regarding the in-game activity. I guess the community isn't growing. Well it probably is, but very slowly. Yes new people are coming but old people are leaving in the same rate.
I've been here for a long time, I was discussing about the game, I was pointing at it's problems, I was adding suggestions and since there were no replies, I've got bored of it and lately I must say that I was just laughing at people who were doing the same as me before, like it was worthless. At the top of everything, I've got banned for 2 weeks for trading magnanite ignots, gathered the standard ways. I sent 2 emails to NGD to sort it out and get the ban off my chars. They didn't even bother with replying. Banning people using AI? Excuse me, NGD's AI isn't really good enough for this. They should have checked the logs first, then start banning, not in this reverse order. This is not the right way to handle a community. Imagine a guy and a crowd in front of him - the guy is Google and the crowd is it's community. Google is hugging the whole crowd trying to keep it as possible. Now imagine a guy and a crowd in front of him - the guy is Regnum Online and the crowd is it's community. The guy is turned back, the crowd is screaming, when the crowd is too loud, the guy just covers his ears. Now the guy gets into a bad mood, takes a gun and fires several bullets (bans) to the crowd and.. Uhm. NGD wants to make a hole to the Earth with their game, but they aren't gonna make it this way, unless they are willing to develop this game for themselves, not for their potential customers.
Look how modern development is done (giving examples of companies I can just think of): companies realize that without users their products are nothing. They are advertising to get people's attention (IBM - the smart planet). They are moderating their communities to let them feel the best (Microsoft), sometimes even better than they actually feel (Apple) and they are giving the best possible support (Adobe - flex). They are making the community to contribute - letting them say their opinions, discuss their products, letting them say their ideas (Cannonical - Ubuntu), letting them play games related to the product and participate in contests (Google). Many companies write blogs about their products to at least let their communities know that there's something happening (Google again).
NGD has got the necessary stuff which they can use to handle their community, but they aren't using it. Somebody can say that this company is small and they haven't got the human resources to manage this, then hell it's time to get them. This is my personal view of the situation and you must admit that it's getting warm here on the forums.
Wyatt told me that there was written "Community driven development, meaning we develop the game based on players' feedback." on the regnumonline.com.ar front page - it's gone, obvious. You can still see it on the (still) untranslated Brazilian front page ( http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/index.php?l=2&sec=0 ).
Perhaps, my second year, I was playing the game only cause of my in-game friends and I think I wasn't the only one. There are ways to communicate with them without playing the game though, so the game is not interesting for me anymore. I'm going to take a break then. I don't say I'm leaving for good - I'd like to come back when things get better, and I believe one time they will. I'll also come to say hello and check the news time by time. See you guys.
The characters you could meet me with: Slava (Ra & Horus), Slava's daughter (Ra), Medea (Horus), Knight Slava (Horus), Kaspi (Ra & Horus) and Spratek (Horus)
