Okay then Ulti, I hope you were expecting at least a bit "Professional" review (I hope I can say that) and detailed descriptions.


Very nice shots, but the editing is terrible xD the jumping from one side of axis to another is very unnecessary. What I mean is, having the same shot from left and right, unless something happens that requiers a change of view, then adding a shot from opposite side is wrong.

Fades to black/white are random and you could get rid of them, they bring nothing, at least on the beginning, they're too slow ;)

You jump a lot with perspective, resulting in having a shot that's not very balanced. One time you see a lot of sky, another you have dominating ground. Such shots should be thought through, is there a reason for filming it like that?

Around 0:50 I see the worst shot ever, you've cut the frame ON THE FEET! it's terrible! Never ever do that! Likewise, never cut the shot on the top of heads! Always leave some space.

The editing cuts are too many, it looks more like a videoclip, where everything has to be FAST. CUT CUT CUT CUT. No need for that, you can have similar effect with less cuts and more planning. What comes with that - too much teleporting, in 2:00 and further you just overdid it.

Music is well edited with visuals :D

I'd go for more makeup like bruises and blood the more you fight.

Acting is pretty good, you don't laugh, you don't make many false moves, it's well prepared, grats on that!

The last and the most terrible thing. Even if the landscape is amazing, THE CARS BEHIND YOU... oh god xD there's a street in the background that drives away my attention, and when you do cuts to show somebody teleported, the cars dissappear. Please pay attention to backgrounds. ;D The easiest thing to do is just change the angle of what camera sees.

I loved the kick with turning around on 2:16. Nicely done!

Also even if you are dressed very nicely, your partner in black has terrible shoes. XD

A little bit of hints from a filmschool student :) I hope it helps you with making future films. If you ever need advice, give a sign.

Aww Piz you could have told him on how to change the background

Ulti did say on forums that he wish he had a camera man, but for his second try in editing and making a video i think it's quite good.

I think the fast CUT CUT CUT was meant to resemble something like teleportation out of Dragon ball Z

I appreciate all the comments. Was the second time I ever filmed anything so I'm a noob at it lol. We didn't have a camera guy, or anyone who did sound or anything. It was just me and the other guy doing everything ^^
And the fading of the black screen, I know I hated that too but I couldn't figure out a way to not have clips start without it (was using movie maker).
And yea when we saw the cars in the background we were like "son of a !!!" xD.

I'm learning as I do these but I wanna do more. IRL I can fight, but making a fake, choreographed scene seems harder than to actually do it, cause I need to make it real and not actually beat the other dude into the ground lol.

Next fight we are planning is going to be inside a building, and it's going to be more real, like no teleporting and stuff(that was for fun^^). Maybe I'll get him to kick me down a flight of stairs lol. Though I think this one turned out pretty cool even with the mistakes. The teleporting was inspired by street fighter and DBZ that's why I cut them so fast, fast, fast;)

One thing we edited out that I loved was the real ending because the audio overlapped the speech and I couldn't switch the music off. It was hillarious, a scene that said two days later and the guy in black was dressed as a total nerd and bumps into me on the street dropping his books and glasses then yelling at me :D

All jokes aside, for some tips on effects etc try videocopilot or creative cow.

there stuff is mainly for adobe products, but should give you some ideas

Inspect the scene and notice cars before shooting, next time xD

You have to start somewhere, first steps are always hard. Imagine all the action/fighting scenes in movies! It takes a lot of time to come up with moves that look realistic :D

This is a very low cost of making a film ;] clothes can be washed up and clean in one day. A sacrifice for a better result! MORE MUD! MORE BLOOD! Audience wants it hot.

The more real, the better it's a practice for you. Cause to be honest, keeping things like these real is very hard and requires a lot of thinking. Editing a film takes weeks if not months! Do it carefully ;D

PITY! The ending would be awesome ;D I might suggest you Adobe Premiere or After Effects, but I know they're not free.

Really vythica? In the vid no one runs so I dunno how you made the comparison lol. My knight can't outrun anything, and when I ao1 it's usually to go towards the enemy or to get to a nearby tree when a hunter attacked me when i had 10% hp left from grinding herb beach:P

Syd, i'll be sure to put more force into that kind of kick the second time
though I wasn't sure if he could catch me if I put more momentum behind it lol. There was actually a scene where hes like "damn it we need to make this real so in this shot I want you to actually hit me (was towards the chest high arm)" xD I'm like no way man , but in the end he wanted one so I gave a light one. it's around 1:10 when i kick him, you should have seen the reaction lol. No more real hit requests after that :D

Anyways gonna work my butt off on the next one, I'll make sure all the hits look more real^^
