Why are there no children in Regnum, NGD?
Is everybody matured and sterilised forever?
It might seem as a little joke, and it is, but I am asking quite seriously, are you ever going to consider putting children into Regnum world? I mean, I only see adult people, which most of is going at each other, slaying friends in joy.
WERE THEY BORN?
Ok but really, having some more real structures of society would make Regnum NPC world less empty! Do you guys agree? it's a cosmethic thing, so don't say OMG FIX BUGZ FIRST, it's just a thought :P same thought was with birds, butterflies and fish, too, but maybe fixing some children around towns would make it brighter and easier.

Children are fine, but it may send the wrong message if they're added at the same time as the cybersex emotes.

Then again, they could be seen as a natural consequence of the cybersex emotes. Hmm, pregnant goats? Just kidding!
I like the children that run around the town in Torchlight, for example, but in RO they may need to be limited to the initiation zone. I'd hate to see the forums the day after <insert evil realm here> invades and hacks up a bunch of little kids in an inner realm city. Also, I'm not sure the RO code can handle fractional RP.

Would be fun yes, and with the NPCs walking. The children can be playing/running around etc.

I think he was refering to NPC's and models and not actual players behind the keyboard.

There are several issues depending on game type that determine whether or not a video game can actually have children. For example, when Bethesda was making TES IV (Oblivion), they originally intended to include children in the game. You can guess why that concept did not come to life, people would be running around cities murdering children or making pedophilia inspired mods instead of boob mods.
Once again, it depends on the video game and mechanics.

You've never been to England have you? :sifflote:
OT: I agree, maybe make it like Fable where you can't kill the children. (Sadly.)
Children would help make the game more lively. It would be distasteful to have them killable, though.
Off-topic: Warcraft III had killable children, but I'm glad, their portraits are extremely disturbing.

WoW has children running around all over Stormwind. They have random dialogue too. I haven't tried killing them yet, I'm adding that to my to do list. Might as well eat its body too. Post a screenie later

Doesn't work, they're invulnerable. There's only one dead child in WoW and she's (http://www.wowpedia.org/Rewriting_the_Battle_of_Darrowshire_quest_chain) a ghost so...

Yeah, that's what I meant.
Invurnerable, as you wish, but isn't killing children as disturbing as killing other people? :P
just making a point there that killing itself is awful and we should have flowers and butterflies and not killing anybody (jk :P)
@KKharzov: First of all, you can't make a mod in Regnum. Second of all, they made the mods for Morrowind anyway ..

The random dialogue is sooo annoying, theres this one pari of kids that walk around fishing, and they completely fill up your chat with:
One time I caught this fish and it was soo big
Nuhuh!
Bu ton topic I can't see why not, could brighten up the cities.

The obvious answer is when you first play your character he or she is depicted as a child, as they lvl up they grow up graphically but not mentally xD

I think they should be invulnerable, and if you attack one, like 30 more appear out of nowhere and kick your ass. So the safest place to hide a gem during an invasion will be the kindergarten.

Lovely ;P
I just want some variety in towns, when you go out of your house (yes, you CAN do that!) you see various people. I imagine in such world like Regnum, there'd be people riding horses, kids running around, little pets maybe, birds, insects. Everything looks right now so... basic. Few models we can pick from are walking around and making them WALK was the first npc improvement in years.
What I love in games isn't exactly the gameplay, I know it's terrible, but how the game looks like. I can enjoy the crappiest game as long as it's full of candies. Hell, I spent few hours in Morrowind's addon, just sitting in one place and watching fish swimming around. I love to escape into game's world, that's how my comic was born, I was running from reality. I can't sit around and watch such world in Real Life. I'd love to make Regnum more alive. That's all.

In all seriousness, the game world in Regnum online does not represent the world of Regnum as a whole. That is, in all quests it is specifically stated that nothing we see in Regnum Online is the "mainland" of each realm, just a tiny piece of land where a war is taking place and soldiers are trained after being teleported there, or brought there by ships.
This is why we're unlikely to see any children outside of the initiation towns at least, because the entirety of the cities, high-level towns and surrounding area are generally considered to be a warzone, even though in reality they can only be invaded rarely.
That said I would love to see more eye candy in the initiation towns such as children and animals.
Kind regards.

Dear Mister Jack Thompson.

By the way gelfs born form trees, so if you want to hurt them just piss on any tree.
Piggies are born from sand, so... just piss anywhere in ignis.
And goats, well...
Dear Mister Jack Thompson.
The other regnum players want to see/partake in bestiality with innocent goats. Please sue them as well.

This is an interesting topic as many RPGs I've played don't have children (with the exclusion of older Ultima games like IV and V).
The last single player RPG I played was Morrowind and there were no children. There was an add-on which I used that added children to the realm. It definitely made the game seem a bit more "real".
On the other hand, it could be a "resource cost" in terms of memory and CPU. If you add children then you may want to add things like toys and scripts that have them "play" and so on...
On the other hand (if you have more than two), if you have children, then what happens when a realm gets invaded? It might be fun for the "neanderthal minded" of us. But in terms of how this game is played, perhaps children are just impractical.
But still, it's an interesting point to bring up.
Just a thought,
-Tre
IMO there is 1 reason why there aint no children in most of the RPGs MMO or no MMO. That is the argument about old game fallout 2 where you could kick children in the groin or just torch them with flamethrowers. I think in the european version children were cut out even.
That is the solo reason you wont find kids in morrowind, oblivion, GTA, and many other games that doenst want to advertise with a scandal.

The moment the main gate is attackable, the children run to a house and disappear until the gate is safe :)

I didn't read the whole thread, so maybe someone has already suggested this:
What if the characters grew from children to adults as they progress in levels?
It could be something as simple as growing the scale of the 3D model. (let's just pretend that dwarf boys are born with a beard )
A lvl 1 char would then have a tiny hitbox and be hard to get a lock on. (and replace the initiation bow/sword/staff with a slingshot?)
Somewhere around lvl 45 your hair would start to turn gray.

Not only that but after lvl45 your character would lose 50% movement speed and walk with a stick, and would crap in their pants, and the very sec. you hit lvl50, your character would instantly die of old age, and would need to start all over again. Since that is how it works in reality and this is a copy of reality, thats why we play it. And you guys are crazy.
I have a better idea. Lets install food, and fatness and you need to eat healthy food that can only be bought with xim. All food that are sold for gold would make you fat, and slow (-75% movement speed) but if you go on a diet (your not eating) would give you 50% necro, because this is how it works in reality and this is a simulation, and now I joined your club too.
