Ok, so I looked at various posts to find an answer to this problem but nothing really worked. So I download regnum(64-bit version). However, I cant seem to find an rolauncher. The only file I see is RegnumOnlineInstall_64, and I can't extract. So anyone know whats the problem? I also did give executing permission for that file. I made a folder for the game too and I have an i686 binary package. Also for your info I am noob lol, I just downloaded ubuntu the other day so I would really appreciate it if you can give me descriptive directions. Step by step from downloading would be really helpful. And I do know how to use terminal commands.

First of all, launch a terminal (ctrl + alt + t) and type:
uname -m
If it says x86_64 then you have the correct installer, otherwise you're running a 32-bit distro.

RegnumOnlineInstall_64 is a binary, so you should just give it exec. rights and run it (double click the icon or use the terminal) .

Try posting the output of the installer.

I tried the code and got i686 as a response. Then, forgive me lol but how exactly do i find the output of the installer? Also, I gave the RegnumOnlineInstall_64 exec. rights and tried double clicking but nothing happened. And just in case I tried downloading the 32-bit version but the download didnt even start.....

i686 is 32-bit. I tried the 32-bit direct download link for the Linux installer, and it works for me.
You cannot run 64-bit applications on a 32-bit operating system.

So... How would a linux first-timer change the the installer to an executable?

...And yes, you may add this to fail blog

He shouldn't, that's why we have repositories today. Having Regnum packaged in Canonical Third Party for Ubuntu would be a good start.

That said, I think new users shouldn't be allowed to grant execution rights or change the default $PATH.

I think this game will not be hosted by any official mirror due of commercial side of Regnum Online...but if one of players host a linux mirror is not so hard to make one .deb or .rpm package.

Canonical made announcements about the possibility of including commercial software channels through the Software Center.
