View Full Version : If Only We Could Complain and Finger Point More...

I have long felt that the main thing keeping RO from greatness is our utter lack of whining, complaining, cheating, mag duping, spell hacking and, most importantly, generalizations calling whole realms cheaters.
Everyday, as a member of Ignis, I wake up, steal my neighbors newspaper, cheat on the crossword, complain about the lack of fresh coffee, and print fake money. Then, I log onto the forums.
It's so disheartening to not see more hatred of innocent people who I will never meet, and don't know well enough to have logical opinions about. The sheer absence of random, useless, baseless whining is staggering.
Why does it have to be like this?
I am certain that, with a little effort we, as a gamer community, can turn this issue around, and take attention away from the actual game, and focus our efforts where they are needed; more stupid bitching.
Thank you.

That's kind of my point, though; we all complain and bitch about each other too much. Consider this a sarcastic 'Let's stop it please' call for calm.

The forums, support system, mails and in-game chat. It only takes seconds for them to take away all your day's inspiration and willingness of sorting problems out. Anyways, somehow we keep going on.
Burnout, that's the word.

Frankly, I'm amazed that you guys put up with it.
EDIT; I'm fairly certain servers are flammable; I wouldn't blame you.

The problem is the ones who critisize bitchers are the ones that are the first to jump on others every time.
Those who actually tried to bring change to this game are simply seen as trying to boost their ego, they get put down and ignored, while trolls say and do whatever they want until they piss a mod off enough to get banned. And then they come back and do it again.
You want a call to reason? Here's a start: Don't push reasonable people to behaving the same way out of lack of options.
Everyone who wants decent; try acting decent yourselves first. Then we'll talk. Because the forums and the community did not just magically become this way. And frustration alone didn't make it this way. It was made this way by people. Me and you, sweetheart.
Bad behavior is like a virus; once introduced it spreads uncontrollably with no solution.
I'm sorry for what you have to put up with Kailer, and I know that I've even contributed to it a few times. We all have to deal with this, not just the developers, and not just the players. Everyone. I really hope that at some point you begin to recover from what you have been put through as the former Community Manager, and now a programmer of NGD.
As frustrated as I am with the game and with NGD, I really do wish you guys the best. I never said you weren't awesome, quite the countrary, it's actually the burnout syndrome which is starting to worry me. You guys need to get your mojo back, before it negatively impacts the game and the community more than it has to. The last thing we want is serious long-term consequences.
There's still time to change things. And that goes for everyone.

Yay, more finger pointing! My turn;

If people who want others to calm down and enjoy their lives are 'the problem', something is wrong.
If any time had been taken to read and absorb the post (rather than get defensive about past actions), one would see that no criticism was offered or implied. We all (including myself) need to chill.
This thread should be taken at face value; If you got a good lol out of it, great. If you took offense to it...well, you hopefully just learned something about yourself.

Ok, Mr Serious, you start, and others will follow. Lead the way by example as you said. I'll hold you, and the rest of the earlier posters in this thread to it, and I'll do the same. But it's easier said than done, trust me.
Ideals are great - when you only have to hold others to them.
And no one was getting defensive at your crap post, sweetie. The only thing that made this thread - which is basically a complaint at the community itself, which you are a part of and have contributed to (especially the problems noted) - was Kailer's reply. But here's the irony: Most don't even know what Kailer has been through, or why his reply is written like that.
Do you have any idea how much mental and emotional anguish NGD community managers and moderators have to go through because of the way people treat them on the forums, in e-mail, support tickets, etc? Does it make it okay for them to not reply or take forever to deal with the situations that arise? No, it doesn't, but it does not make it okay the way they are treated. It doesn't make it okay the way anyone on this forum is treated, either. Excuse my french, but this #()%&@# #(%&# has got to stop, from everyone.
And that sure as hell includes me, its just going to take me some time to get over being frustrated.
Take some time to learn the guys that are being whined at before you actually tell everyone to stop whining. Because if you don't understand why they need to stop whining - they won't either. And take some time to know the people you dislike.
Sincerely,
Ms Defensive

Sigh.
Sorry, NGD, I tried.
I now leave this thread to be closed, due to the bad attitudes of those who cannot learn to grow emotionally.
