I use the windows version. Everything was working fine until 2 or 3 days ago. Now i launch RO, i click play and the game freezes on the console, at a stage where the fonts seem to be resized (it has a kind of "fading" effect in the console and stops in the middle of it). the last text i see is "got ressource list : xxxx ressources available". The game doesn't crash, just freezes. the window states "not responding", i can't even force it to quit with task manager. i'm forced to reboot every time.
i've tried reinstalling, deleting the live server folder, enabling/disabling sound, enabling/disabling firewall, safe mode, D3D and OpenGL. I've even installed linux to be able to play but my sound card is not detected by linux. i can play without sound but WHY the hell should i play on linux without sound when i could play on windows with sound 3 days ago ????
EDIT : forgot to beg : please help me.

Skip the intro movie.
but i don't even get to that point.
the game crashes just before that. after it has detected hardware and stuff.

I don't know then...:ohill: It might be a problem with the update then. Mabye the admins know how to fix it. They fixed my problem with an update. Sometimes I just have to wait until the next update.

Does it work on Linux?

Does it work on Linux?
yes. i'll try to make it clear. the game works on linux (now it's my only option to be able to play) but i have an external sound card and it's really complicated to set up. so i have no sound at all in RO for linux. this is a real problem in the war zone.
now i'll try reinstalling nvidia drivers, sound drivers and the game (maybe windows).
i wish i had some logs to provide but since the game doesn't crash...

here's the last thing i'm able to see.
might have something to do with openAL since it stops on this line.

Sound on Linux doesn't work out-of-the-box, even with a normal sound card. So make sure you've followed the sound-fixing instructions in the Linux thread (http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=1617). Personally, the second sound-fix method was the one that worked for me, but try both.
If I recall correctly, on mine it just says that OpenAL fails or something and just loads anyway.

my problem on linux has nothing to do with the game. i just have a sound card that is not detected by alsa. i have to compile and install alsa myself, it's a real pain.
BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER NOW : I JUST GOT THE GAME WORKING AGAIN.
the problem was indeed openal. it seems the openal with EAX that is automatically installed with the game doesn't work with my sound card (a creative labs live 24 bit external, that's really ironic). It made the game freeze even with sound disabled... really tricky :tsk_tsk:
I just removed openal and ran the openal installer from openal.org and now it works !
i'm so happy.
now i'm going to sleep a bit. been trying to fix this for hours today and yesterday.
EDIT : now i wonder why the game stopped working only recently. In fact, this openal installer is inside the game installer (the 300MB+ file) so i had it since the beginning. I didn't change anything to my computer (hardware or software) recently. So this remains a mystery...
