Ok, i have had this problem over 2 months.
The problem is game freeze sometimes(every day 5-10 times). Sometimes just for 30secs, but sometimes i have to restart whole computer because freeze doesnt go away. Today i already restarted 2 times and now it is getting on my nerves.
I have debian 6.0.1, GeForce 450 GTS, driver version 195.36.31 and 2 displays

I would be very happy if someone have some ideas how to fix this... its really annoying

and btw now after restart i cant connect back because i get message "Connection with server lost."

After some googling, it seems like this is a fairly common problem with nvidia 400/500 series cards, there's a pretty long topic dedicated to it on nvidia's forums: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=187401

You could try this suggestion from yet another forum: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2418750&postcount=79

I had this problem with my GTX 460, in the end my card died completely.
RMA:ed it and got a new one which works great.

I had major freezing problems too for a while. It used to start after playing for an hour or so and usually when a lot of stuff was going on. I installed my old Quake3 Arena and had the same problem. Swapping the graphics card fixed things for me. Do you have a spare one to try?

Edit: It was a while ago and the card was an Nvidia GeForce2 MX400, running under Slackware Linux (possibly v12).
