Magic training - distributing points

I'm not sure whether this is technical...

When training as a mage with Lotiel, it says 'you can't distribute until level 8', but it let me distribute my points into disciplines.

However, none of the spells seem to have improved and there are none new even though i'm on level 4 mental, mana control, level 3 enchantment and level 2 staff mastery. Perhaps the new spells only appear when i get to level 8 (currently on 7)?

I've now reached level 8, so I went back to Lotiel to train.

For some reason I only had 1 point to distribute between all the powers. Is this correct?

Also, for the disciplines I have 9 points left but I can't seem to use them to level up.

I hope I didn't corrupt something by distributing into disciplines before level 8.

My character is ML42 if you want to take a look at it.

p.p.s. I also noticed that the energy barrier had got more expensive but hadn't improved, but I see that that's already been reported :thumb:

The lvl of the disipline depends of your lvl (the half of your lvl +1 or something like this) for example, if you are lvl 10 you can lvl up the disipline to lvl 6. The lvl of the skill depends of the disipline lvl. Every time you lvl up you will recive disipline points and some times skill points.

I'm level 8 so by what you said I should be able to level up to discipline lvl 5.
From the screen it looks possible, but it is not letting me lvl up the discipline:

Points left: 9
Lvl 4 Mental Cost 6
Lvl 4 Mana Cost 6
Lvl 3 Enchantments Cost 3
Lvl 2 Staff mastery Cost 3

If I have 9 points left and the cost is 6 surely I should be able to level up mental?? But when I click the button nothing happens.

In addition to the state described above, I have only ever had 1 point to distribute under 'Powers'. Are you suggesting I should have had more...how do I earn skill points?

You must be lvl 9 for disipline lvl 5 (your lvl +1 / 2) i guess.

I'd like to add that the interface is somewhat hard to manage at the moment on training. I like it, and like the training system, but I accidentally spent my singular point in something I didn't even think I had clicked on, then there was no way to go back and fix it.

Please add a "confirmation" for point expenditure on spells/skills.

Perhaps it could be arranged for the level up button to be disabled, or replaced with 'Need to be level <> before you can level up'.

You understand that it's confusing if you appear to have enough points yet clicking on the button does nothing?

But again I'm still amazed that's you've managed to finish such a complex game; I know it can't be easy to manage all the different systems.:wink:

That happened to me too, I'd got 3 skill points from somewhere, spent on arcane missile, tried to upgrade it again but it wouldn't and the points seemed to go on to Curse and Energy Barrier (having previously been on those tabs).

If there is a similar limit on upgrading skills I think that needs an explanatory message or at least disabling the button.

Disciplines are Mental, Mana Control, Staff mastery, etc.
Skills are Arcane Missile, Curse, etc.
The disciplines can reach lvl 19 and the skills lvl 5 max.

Like Cabox said, the lvl of the discipline depends of your character level.

In level 8 you can start distributing skill points, but how many points you can add to the skills depends of the lvl of the discipline.
For example, with Mental and Arcane Missile.
If Mental is in lvl 1, you can add 1 point to Arcane missile. (it will be in lvl 2 max)
If Mental is in lvl 12, you can add 2 points to Arcane missile. (if you add all the points the skill will be in lvl 3 max)
If Mental is in lvl 15, you can add 4 point to Arcane missile. (if you add all the points the skill will be in lvl 4 max)
If Mental is in lvl 19, you can add 5 point to Arcane missile. (if you add all the points the skill will be in its maximum lvl, 5)
