There is a square around character on the ground, lines like 1px size, and moves with character. It is not always visible probably because of terrain, angle of camera and so on, so sometimes you see just a line, sometimes 2 and sometimes all.
I assume it is related with generating grass and other terrain details area (note on the last pic that area inside square is more sharp and detailed than outside). It is not a problem, just a rather minor annoyance on the screen. If its borders could be completely invisible, would be fine.

I have noticed this square as well, I think it's related to the way the Linux client handles the anisotropic filtering, although it has been months since I last used a windows client so I don't remenber if it was there. I could well be wrong though.

It's the same on windows.

It's here since the new engine, 2 years ago.

It shows the limit where shadows are less detailed.

Remove shadows, you won't see it anymore. ^^

I would add "remove post process max level" for less uber bright textures, "remove zergs near bridge" for less low fps issues, "remove luck" for less Sotw failures.

made me lol.

But now to things you can really do :P
To increase fps:
"remove sky" ==> everything beyond far end turns black!
"remove weather" ==> now snow or rain
"remove map objects" ==> invisible walls, trees, stones, bridges, forts, .... (this 1 is funny if you try to cross a river or enter a castle, but no1 can hide in objects from you. but they can hide behind trees or stones without you knowing why you can't hit them.)

for better few:
"set weather clear" no fog
"ignore server time" no sync with server time for in game time of the day.
"set time 12", "set time incremen 0" for midday
that gives max few distance all the time. (you won't know in game time of day though)

Well I ran from windows on this same machine a few days ago and the square wasn't there. I use the same settings on Linux as I do on Windows as well. so... I feel like this -> :facepalm3:
