I'm finding that in Regnum fights consist mostly of balls of players huddling together and clashing :) see what I did there? Anyway, it's true, players huddle up together and are protected in numbers but area buffs. It's always been this way, even in hunting parties Pre WM. But I'm wondering when splitting up would be a good idea. You leave the protection of your allies, but you get a chance to flank and ambush the enemy, giving your forces better ground. This seems like a good tactic, it's just that I rarely see it happen. Right now most of Regnum's tactics are which fort to go to, or which bridge to camp, instead of positioning and timing charges. Does anyone else see any good in flanking, or is the traditional ball of death much more effective?

I've been using such tactic before. But nowadays, leaving ally = no horn vs horned barbs (+spring+UM) , marksmans (freeze spammers), mages (meteor+ivy/slow). So it's useless tactics nowadays... Once again, let's thank NGD for OP spell HOTW :clapclap:

I think it still works to go around the enemy with a smaller force while the fight happens beside the fort even. You can totally destroy the enemies conjus like this, only if people want to listen though:D This is rare haha. I've always thought stalker would be the biggest advantage in battle in my mind but no one uses it almost. Imagine stalking 6 barbs all to unleash a simultaneous typhoon or expansive wave in the middle of the enemy.

Exactly. I always thought that a small force of area knockdown players could come from behind and disable the enemy force. But it's hard to kill conjus fast because they have confuse and shield barrier.

Used to be fairly simple before beacons, you stay close you get the buffs but you're also a great target for areas. Now you just stay close, the worst the areas are going to do is slow you down. There is massive scope for tactics in RO but its being dumbed down constantly, once you had to plan but now folks can get away with beaconing up and turning the brain off.

imagine you can get 5 barbs willing to listen to you, let them buff up stalk them and unleash them in the mid of the other group..

yes that can all happen...
if you can get 5 barbs to listen
if you can get a hunter with lvl 5 stalk
and if by taking away those barbs, the rest of the group will not instantly die..

sorry, but I gave up on that strategie after fights with my hunter..

That's how Alsius rolls :facepalm3:

Good thing people in Ignis are willing to listen to you, I can remember pulling this "tactic" off a couple of times.

Probably because almost everybody in Ignis speaks English..
I know from experience that there are lots of Alsirians who speak a little bit of English but when you ask them something in a pretty long sentence they won't answer or say something like: I dont understand.
(Pretty often the Ita clan, no disrespect to them because theyre probably the most stable clan in Alsius).

But except for the non-speakers you also have to solo-heroes who think they don't have to listen to other players. I always thought that every realm had this, until I played Syrtis Raven.. I was pretty shocked when people were discussing what tactic they were going to use and actually would listen to opinions and nobody ran off different directions!
That's from me probably the main reason a realm like Raven is fun, people listen to eachother, are nice and actually understand eachother.

International server in all its revolutionary glory.

Good point, it is an international server so I can't really blame them of course but that doesn't take away that it's a pain in the ass to coordinate them.. or rather to coordinate us, the whole alsius realm.

Also, it seems that european time differs a lot with America's timeline. I was on yesterday at around 01:00 (today lol) GMT+1 and we had a HUGE zerg... I seriously couldn't believe my eyes. Now I get why people think Alsius isn't in such a bad condition.. Only american time. I almost never see a zerg that big when I'm online at around 20:00 GMT+1.
