Hello,

Not sure if anyone else ran into this.
For some reason I cant adjust the texture quality, it's disabled.

However I can play on ultra settings maxed out with 200 fps, so it's not like it's disabled due to an outdated gfx card.

Anyway to fix this?

A friend of mine has also encountered this problem and is unable to access the texture quality adjuster yet has everything else on ultra.

What are your system specs? Might be a hardware incompatibility problem.

This is the exception.
Everyone else who is unable to adjust texture quality, that I've spoken to is using some form of ATI/AMD card.

I'm not seeing a connection..

I'm also unable to adjust, but using a laptop with onboard intel graphics. I guess at this point only NGD knows what the connection is.

It can't be VideoCard related, I use the same card as my wife and I can adjust the textur quality.

Since I lowered the quality settings (to save a few fps, it always goes down to 10-15 fps when more than ~50 chars are on-screen), I also can't adjust texture quality anymore, although the quality is set back to where it was since weeks. I assume it is only the slider simply not reactivated.

More than a month since first post, and no reaction whatsoever? If at least there would be some "we noticed the thread, but will work on it not before the next few mounts are implemented". Just a sign of life :wink:

Frosk replied in pm that he would let me know about any fixes, that was 3 weeks ago..

Sorry if I'm reviving something old, but I've found a little fix for the texture quality problem by editing the game.cfg. I was having the same problem and I couldn't find any fixes on the web so I tried to fix it myself. This fix seems to cause weird graphic glitches when I first enter in the gameworld such as, the character not showing clothes and black textures, but they clear up after a few seconds. Here is how to set your texture level higher:

WARNING: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

First, while in game, set all possible settings to however you desire them to be. If you adjust any in-game graphic settings after editing the game.cfg it'll undo the changes you make.

Next, find your Regnum/Realms folder it should be located somewhere like this if you use Windows:
C:\Program Files\NGD Studios\Realms Online

Inside that folder there should be a file called game.cfg. Create a back-up of that file. Open the original game.cfg with notepad.

Press: ctrl+f or Edit>Find and type in "vg_texture_lod" without the quotes. It will take you the lines you need to edit.
Here is what you may see (the numbers may be different for you):
vg_terrain_texture_quality = 2
vg_texture_lod = 3
vg_texture_lod_bias = 1

vg_terrain_texture_quality is the texture quality of the terrain
vg_texture_lod is the texture quality of evrything else.
I'm unsure what vg_texture_lod_bias does. (I didn't see any changes from adjusting that. Maybe someone else can tell me what it does.)

After experimenting, I figured out that the textures decrease the higher the number is. (ie. vg_texture_lod = 5 is worse than vg_texture_lod = 2)

Here is what I changed my settings to:
vg_terrain_texture_quality = 1
vg_texture_lod = 1
vg_texture_lod_bias = 1

I'm unsure if there is a difference of quality between settings 0 and 1 so I left it at 1 but you can try 0 (it might be a little more glitchy when you start the game.)

Be sure to save game.cfg after adjusting these settings and launch the game it enjoy your improved textures!

If you have any comments or problems please reply them here or pm me. :smile:

Texture quality is fixed at lowest setting in Windows XP.

No offense, but please, update your OS. It's OLD. OLD.

Not everyone like me has $200 extra to spend to get a new OS. I guess this is a fix for people who use Win XP then.

You do realize that:

A) Not all OSs cost $200. Some are free.

B) Windows XP will be officially unsupported in 3 months.

Right?

I'd love to go back to ubuntu but I can't due to software incompatibility.

I actually plan on getting win 7 or 8 soon when I have the money.

This is a bit of a misguided decision. Windows XP still has around 40% market share.

Download an OS? :)

On topic, I used to have this problem on my old computer but what Kitsunie said sort of fixed it. Though I went back to lowest settings for more FPS :p

I only had to go to high settings once to fix all the graphical problems. After that going back to low settings it never happened again.

It's 18.95% in current the regnum userbase.

Anyway... This could be enabled again since a huge memory hog was fixed a couple of versions ago.

Glad I could help you! Though I'm not sure how your fps increased but that's great. What did you change texture_lod and terrain numbers to?

After I wrote the fix I decided to change the terrain back to 2 because 1 was too sharp and made the snow look more like ice than snow. 2 looked much softer. But that's just my personal preference.
