Hey folks,

So my PC is being weird and it doesn't like me.

After trying to install something my Pc wouldn't start without blue screening, so I rolled it back a few days to before the weird install problem. Problem solved right? Nope.

Then I started it up and got put onto a "temporary" profile, not my own. I restarted and was put back in the temporary profile... Again. This keeps happening. So I google around a little and it seems like I need to change the registery settings. So I try it, but I still can't get back to my original profile. I don't remember exactly what I did, I changed some .bak settings I think, it was like 2 months ago (hey a break can be nice) and haven't tried since.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?

Oh yeah, windows 7. Thanks!

Sounds like whatever you installed ate your registry for breakfast. If it were me, it'd be reinstall Windows time...

before you reinstall the OS you want to use, you could save your important data first, if you have any :drums:

To do so, you could boot a linux live CD or live USB thumb drive on your computer. Following Linuxes are the more popular one, which are considered to be fairly noobfriendly: Fedora, Mint, openSUSE, Mageia, Ubuntu. If you need any more guidance with this just ask.

Something puzzled itself into your registry files...looks like firefox ^^

As people above here mentoined....best to save your important data and reinstall your OS.

I dont think a backup would help here, but you can always try

Ally data is still on my PC and in theory I can assess it, it's just all on my profile while I'm stuck on the "tempory" profile.

A reinstall would really be a last resort. It was my gf trying to install her camcorder on my PC that started it, I don't know how that could affect the registery. Any more suggestions? I'll get to work on it on Monday. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Forced to enter in a temporary profile means that your actual profile somehow got corrupted by the roll back. That does sound like registry problems to me. If I were you I'd create a new profile and move all the data from the old profile to the new one before even considering reinstalling the OS. Here's a step-by-step from MS: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

But PC stands for Personal Computer... Either way, can you survive a couple of weeks without sex? You have to make her tell you EXACTLY how she installed the stripcam, if that really is all she did. Get all the details you can out of her, maybe then the problem will look more obvious.

And don't forget to come back after you've figured it out.

and then, give her a profile of her own on your computer, without admin rights.

Everything is fixed, I'm an idiot.

Thanks all for your advice, this can be closed. Cheers!
