Hi all. I've played this game on windows before and thought it was pretty cool. Today I thought I'd have a go at Linux to see what all the fuss is about and I remembered this game having a linux client.
I first loaded up Ubuntu (nice distro) and I can't remember how now but I got the installer working. However, now I'm using PCLinuxOS and cannot get the launcher to run at all.
Can anyone confirm whether or not I can run Regnum on this OS? If so, could you provide a quick rundown on how to do it?
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find any info from searching the forum.

Hello, thought I'd give you some basic linux knowledge: while ubuntu and pclinuxos are different operating systems technically, they are both gnu/linux, they both run the same gnu programs that make up the surrounding layer of stuff around the same kernel (linux), so a program that runs on one linux will always be able to run on another - it's a little more complex than that, but that's the gist of it
now I don't know what you've done already, so I'll just talk to you like a newbie, so don't get offended
When you download the launcher it's a tar archive compressed with gzip (.tar.gz), you have to unpack the file inside this archive, and if you don't know how to navigate in console i'm just going to give you straight instructions, if you do know, then you'll know which parts you can skip:
open a terminal, make sure you have the program called wget by typing wget, if it says no command found you'll have to install this (there should be a package called wget in your package management, whichever you use)
type:
mkdir regnum
cd regnum
wget http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/downloads/files/rolauncher.tar.gz
(if right click this url in the browser and choose "copy link address" or something like that, then hit middle mouse button in the terminal, and it will copy the url into the terminal, so you don't have to type it all out, middle mouse is the common linux way of copying text you've marked up)
tar zxvf rolauncher.tar.gz
./rolauncher
now assuming you've already done all this, and the launcher still won't work, it will usually say something in the terminal when it fails, what does it say?

Thanks arlick, that worked but when I run the launcher nothing happens oO.
Ahh It's not important because I will probably switch back to Ubuntu anyway - although I'm kind of liking this distro also. Maybe I'll try a triple boot system =x

What's wrong with the launcher? Nothing now..because I've just moved back to Ubuntu and the launcher is working again.
But now it's telling me my video card is unsupported zzzzzzz. Here's a quick rundown on my system specs:
C2D E4300 @ 2.4ghz
Asus Nvidia EN7900GT
2 x 1GB Kingston value DDR2 800
So what's next?
