View Full Version : Awesome South American pilot - TACA Flight 110 zero engine power

I just read about TACA Flight 110 out of Buenos Aires in 1988 which had a double engine flameout and zero engine power at about 15,000 feet in the middle of a hugely violent thunderstorm. Somehow they managed to land with zero power, almost in the river - a bit like Captain Scully but huge thunderstorms.

Amazing effort by the Sth American Captain. Clearly calm and immensely capable pilot. So... South America does have lots of talent !

captain had only one eye
after landing on a grassy verge in the middle of a swamp, they actually somehow flew the plane back out ...
