Weird lighting issue, everything gets dark

Deleting game.cfg helps most of the time

edit. could be due to manually adjusted vg_fog_distance_start / end scale = 300000.000000
edit2. yes confirmed. standard is vg_fog_end_scale /start_scale = 3.333 sth. - at 40, the entire map is visible. anything above is unnecessary and can create above effect (same does 0)
