Lost Command Buttons

I've suddenly lost the "2' and "3" command buttons on the action bar (they're greyed out) and presing the "2" or "3" key has also stopped working. I can still do the actions via the action dialog box/window but I'm wondering what happened to the command bar. They don't come back after a logout/logon. Linux client BTW.

FYI all of the buttons are still there on a second character of mine, so the problem seems limited to just one.
