Regnum may be causing problems with my DNS.
Hello to anyone that can help,
Over the last day or two I've been getting constantly disconnected sometimes every hour, sometimes every 5 minutes. What would happen is that I would get booted from the server because my internet had cut out. I would "diagnose and repair" and it would say that it cannot connect to the DNS server. I would then have to reset my network adapter for this to be sorted. This pretty much only happen's when I'm on Regnum. I can be browsing the internet, doing whatever and my internet will be fine - but get on Regnum and my internet will disconnect like clockwork. Thank's in advance to anyone that can help

A similar thing happened to me, yesterday I lost my car keys and one of my light bulbs died on me.
(there is an informative message underneath: cause != effect. Basically, DNS and Regnum are on two completely different levels -- the only thing Regnum can do is get your traffic throttled by your ISP because it uses too much bandwidth, but I doubt this is the problem. Most likely, you have a cheap quality router/modem which gets too hot when you are online for a long time and you get disconnected because of it. Once a connection is established there is no need for DNS, so the error message is likely to also be a consequence of the primary problem: connection shut down, either because of problems on the ISP side or because of problems your modem may have)

Hi Mattdoesrock,
As Magnet said, there must be a problem with your Router, but I don't leave aside the fact that your ISP could be confusing Regnum Online with a P2P application like Azureus, BitTorrent, eMule, Ares, etc. for using high ports. Maybe a double check on those two points would be a good start. Regards.

Right.
Now I don't claim to be a computer wiz.. So to recap - Too much traffic / bandwight = dead router. Therefore a new router is in order? As to the quality of my router, it says it's a "Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Speedbooster v2" which doesn't mean alot to me, but I would guess that there are certainly alot better one's out there. Many thanks to both of you

Haha!
Thankyou Magnet, much appreciated. "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to magnet again." Argh...

I would go for the "ISP blocking ports" option. To check this, please call your ISP and run this test: http://www.canyouseeme.org/ With the following ports: - Protocol TCP: 48000, 48001, 47300, 80 - Protocol UDP: 9960

Did no-one notice that it's a USB device? Windows and USB devices on high load tend to freak out like that. Try connecting your pc to your router's ethernet port (ie, stick a cable from your pc to your router instead of using the wireless connection) and test things, if things keep being nasty, then it's probably not your usb adapter. If they stop being nasty, then it's your usb adapter, or more accurately, crappy MS software that cant deal with usb devices under high load properly.

This is the error message that comes up when my internet disconnect's ever 10 minutes while on Regnum:
I'd like to reiterate that this is a relatively new problem, it's only started getting really bad over the last day or so. Can anyone help any further?

Hi Mattdoesrock,
As you are using a wireless connection, several problems can be causing your DNS problems. How far is your router from your PC? Do you know how to enter in the router's setting pages and read the configuration? Regards.
