Equipment/display bug

ok, i have a problem. i am a lvl 23 warlock and currently i have a damage from 143-150, but when i switch staffs (same speed, maybe +1 difference in damage) my damage drops from 143-150 to 121-128 and i can't get it up for some time (but it comes back to my "normal" damage). so what i would like to know if anyone has same problems as me and does that wrong dmg display in char window affect the damage i do with mobs?
